For powder brushes I do what you just said... Poke bristles in and make a circular motion however, don't press that hard or you will ruin your brushes. For blush just swipe because it's to pigmented and you will get to much and it won't be pretty. I use a regular eyeshadow brush and swipe down on the pigment square a couple times. And ¿diamond sponge brush? It's probably for blending.

That's not a dumb question at all! And when I apply blush, I just swoop my brush in a circular motion into the blush, tap the brush 2 or 3 times to take off excess and apply it to my cheeks ☺️ & as for the eyeshadow brushes, I like the diamond sponge brush, they make it easier to avoid fall out and I always start from the outer corner of my eye and make me way to the inner corner! I hope I helped you ☺️

Those are just the cheap sponges companies give you. I don't use them.

Some times I dab, or swipe, or swirl, just feel it out...every product/brush is different
