This one is absolutely fabulous! I got it while I was in America, and used it on my friend who's hair is similar to yours. It worked great!

Do not turn the iron to full-blast...overtime that will turn your hair into straw. I'm currently wearing my hair in its natural curly state and have done some horrible things to my hair in the past...the flat iron on the highest temp possible was one such bad mistake on my part. :(

What temperature do you suggest? And yes, I've already done that a few times. Thanks^

I usually straighten my hair to a temperature of 374. Is that to high?

I only straighten my hair on 325 and I thought that was high. lol

First I use a shampoo and conditioner by organix the morracan Argan oil and then the leave in conditioner but focusing mostly on my roots and ends then I blowdry my hair on high with cool air then apply hair spray (a light hairspray and water) in a water bottle as kind of a buffer in between the heat and my hair and let it dry then I straighten my hair at 345.

The spray should just barely dampen the hair.

I also do a hair mask once a week

Well I'm half black, and naturally my hair looks very similar to yours. I always make sure to deep condition when I wash. I also use a protectant. The one suggested above is great but I use one catered to women of color because in my experience, it works better. I also get it cut every 4-6mos. to keep the split ends away. not a lot, usually a half inch. My hair has been growing since I started this routine a year ago, and I straighten my hair once every two days. Well I hope this helps and good luck!! (:

I have Ethnic hair as well, and like Mari said it pays to use products catered to women of color.
I prefer to use a heat protectant serum rather than a spray. Not only do they do a better job in terms of protecting your hair, but I find that majority of spray on heat protectants are based on solvent alcohol rather than an emollient alcohol. So it dries out hair... pay attention to the ingredients eespecially when it comes to cheaper products.
Its a 10 leave in conditioner uses a nice silicone to cost the hair leaving it silky. Its something definitely worth looking into.

I recommend investing in a good flat iron as well. Alot of girls mention that any cheap flat iron will do, but in all honesty that's easy to say when their natural curls are Taylor Swift curls! I used a cheap flat iron for so long and finally invested in one of quality... big difference. Less time straightening, better results, and no funny smells.
Make sure your hair is fully dry before straightening it. Doing a hair mask before hand can help with shine. I recommend keeping up with hair masks afterwards as well in order to help your hair from loosing strength.

Besides deep conditioning before & using heat protectant prior to blow drying don't put any products in your hair until after.

Heat protectant and blow dry your hair first(straight hair comes from the roots!)

Do a roller wrap first. This is a no to little heat method for straightening. Use big 1 1/2"-2" rollers on wet hair (use setting lotion to eliminate frizz and don't use mousse. Then it will be mostly straight for you to pass a flat iron through it on medium to low heat.

I also suggest straightening small sections using a comb or brush or tension brush (really good to straightening curly hair) for a bone straight look. That way if you straighten it this way the first time and take your time, you don't have to keep going over it. And don't forget the heat Protectant.
