Yesterday I was using a red eye shadow but every time when I use it is pale look and sometimes the red color is kind of a hard to come out the sponge. What can I do?

A white base would help a lot, I like the NYX jumbo eye pencil in Milk.

I agree with Marissa. You can even get one at the dollar store to try and see if you like the consistency.

Some eyeshadows work better when applied damp, it makes the color more pigmented and will show up better

@Carly S
How do you apply eyeshadow damp? Do you just spritz the brush?

You can layer the eyeshadow more, use a base, and wet it.

White base, good primer, and quality brushes if you font have good brushes it won't pick up the color as well and make it less pigmented.

That's how I got my red shadow to pop! I used Mac's painterly eyeshadow base, a layer of white shadow, wet my brush (brown hair brush) and it picked up the red pigment way better. Post pics for us!

You can try using the eyshadow with a little bit of water to make the pigments stand out more.

NYX jumbo pencils in Milk and Black Bean make great bases. Ulta has them on sale for buy one, get one 50% off often. Also, once you've put the eyeshadow on your brush you can Spray MAC's Fix + onto it. That should also help with the color.

I tend to find that the brand of shadow matters as well, sugarpills love+ is an amazing matte red, mac just made an l.e one called strike while haute which is amazingly pigmented but you can also try macs primary red pigment for the same effect I mix with fix + for pigments and depending on the intensity I'm looking for I also use inglots duraline as well, but always use some sort of base as mentioned above really makes a huge difference (:
