So, I adore dark tan skin and I tan VERY easily but I also do a lot of cosplay and a lot of the characters I would like to do have fair skin. I've used lighter makeup before but it just looks off. You can tell it's makeup and I just don't like it. So have any of you had any successful results with skin lightening creams or is there even anything out there like that? (I don't want to put lemon on my skin because I've heard of that as well) thanks for any help you can give!

I believe that cosplayers shouldn't try to alter the color of their skin in order to cosplay because it's ok to not be completely accurate

Especially since there're barely any representations of dark skinned characters for us to look up too

Look up this tumblr blog called cosplayingwhileblack because they're rockin fair skinned characters

If you still want to lighten and you have time, I used to use papaya soap and its ok but remember to use lots of sunscreen since bleaching creams can make you sun sensitive

Well as far as the makeup you may need to use an orange sort of base. Try mixing primer and orange pigment and then put on foundation. Applying a lighter foundation on tan skin will look ashy/greyish and that's why it looks off, the orange base tones down that ashy color.

As for the lightening product there are some. I personal prefer the Asian soaps as they work quite well. I like Kojic acid soap. Don't let the "acid" scare you. Vitamin C is actually absorbic acid and it's used in skincare too.
I like the Dermaline lightening soap or the Kojie San.

As for creams I find the Asian ones work quite well but you get a small amount and it's just not enough.
For creams I'd use Cape Fear Naturals since they come in 2oz jars for $15 while Dermaline is 25grams for $20
