So I read a couple articles online that said that silicone based foundations and primers have longer wear than water based. They stay on longer. And that they're best for normal to dry skin. Also that they give you a more flawless look, covering up your pores and such.

I've been using water based products cuz I thought that was better for my skin. But my makeup doesn't stay on well!

Have any of you found this to be true? What do you prefer, silicone or water based?

And what are some good silicone based products? Are any of the good high end products silicone? Hourglass primer? MUFE HD foundation? Nars sheer glow?

Also, do you think that if I invested in the hourglass primer and still used water based products it would work just as well? Does it really keep things on?

I've got the gosh velvet foundation primer which is also silicone based and I love it.

I think it's best if you use a silicone based primer to pair it with a silicone based foundation. Same with a water based primer with a water based foundation.

Thanks girls :) Sarah, yeah that's what I've been doing, I've got both water based right now, I was just wondering if silicone is better...

Wow! thank you so much Jacqueline for that amazing explanation!! That helps a TON. I always thought that if water was the first ingredient it was water based. I'm using UD's Naked Skin foundation now and had no idea it was silicone based. Now I've have to take a look at my primer, that could be the problem. Thanks so much :)

Nope! My primer is also silicone based. Ha this whole time I thought I was using water based products. Well I guess that's all good then :) Jacqueline, is it the same with concealer also? Do I need to check my concealer ingredients?
