That's what those products do - they dry up the pimple/acne. Usually it burns and that shows that it's working. But if it's burning so badly it would be recommended you stay away from those types of products since your skin is too sensitive. :)

Tea tree oil works as a great spot treatment. Just remember to dilute it though.

Lush' Grease Lightning, it works wonderfully! It takes awhile for it to get rid of your spots, but it doesn't leave scars. It's also organic and smells really refreshing.

I agree with Jacqlyn, burning is a sign of irritation. Since you have sensitive skin, I'd stick to products with salicylic acid for acne as I find that to be way less drying than benzoyl peroxide, tea tree oil, etc.

Emily, Burning is not a good sign for the skin. Anything with a cooling, tingly, or burning sensation means that the skin is irritated. In order for a product to work, there is no need for skin irritation.
Skin irritation and inflammation worsens acne. How?
Irritation triggers your nerves in your skin, which can also trigger wacky hormones. This leads to an overproduction of sebum (oil) in which terms means more clogged pores and more acne. Your pores become enlarged as well. Your skin's repair process also degrades along with it. The surface of the skin becomes weak, the skin's ability to repair itself also decreases along with production of collagen.

Now you do not need to always feel irritation, but burning, cooling, tingling sensations are all product hype that companies use against the mass public since it is our human nature to associate those type of sensations with cleanliness and with the fact that 'beauty is pain' is constantly embedded into our minds.

For white heads, Salicylic Acid works well. I recommend Neutrogena Rapid Clear Line Lotion that has 2% Salicylic Acid. It works great to exfoliate the skin and help with the cell turn over process. It's non irritating and free of fragrances.

Benzols are very drying, and irritate skin. These spot treatments should be used lightly, in the evening, and every other day in the begining. If irritation occurs, stop until it subsides. Akso, check that your cleansers and moisturizers do not have vit a deritives or benzols jn them. It will add to irritation. A sal cleanser, thayers rose water which hazel, a light oil free moisturizer, and evening spot treatment are good staples. I could recommend good lines, but you can't find them online. They are medical lines
