Hello everyone. I am a makeup artist and I just began blogging. I have a lot of knowledge and ideas I am eager to share. If anyone has suggestions I'd love to hear them.

Thank you!

Hey Zoe,

Building up a blog following can take some serious time, so try not to get too bogged down in it right at the beginning. You should concentrate on making lots of high quality posts and uploading them on a regular basis. When you start doing this, the follows will come much quicker! You really should be enjoying what you do, instead of it being a chore.

Here are some things I've learnt through my 5+ years of blogging for big companies:

1. Make friends! Join communities and comment on other peoples blogs. Use social media to interact with people. Don't just spam your link, make sure you're adding something useful to the melting pot. If you just say "Cool post here's my link" then you're most likely going to get ignored. Same as on Twitter/Facebook, etc. Make conversation, be happy and open and chatty!

2. ALWAYS post on a regular basis. Those who blog daily will see something like 60% more followers and views than those who post once a week. It makes a big difference. If you get some spare time of an evening then write up a couple of posts and schedule them for when you're too busy to blog.

3. Ask nicely! If you don't ask, you don't get when it comes to blogging. At the end of your comments, tweets, blog posts, etc, make sure you put something nice and polite like "I'd love it if you could follow me, so that you can see all of my latest updates". Something along those lines!

4. Be unique. Your blog is all about you and that's what is most important. If you start trying to copy other people to get followers then it won't work. Write your posts as if you're talking to a really good friend of yours; informal, chatty and fun.

5. Always follow back. If you ask for people to follow you then make sure you're following back. Getting into the habit of this will give you a good name amongst the blogger community and you'll be loved lots for it.

I hope this helps, I've got a ton of other thoughts but will leave it at that for now haha.

Oh and I dropped you a follow, hope it helps.
