^^^ Pretty much self explanatory.

I like it. I do occasionally get products that i don't like or don't work for me but i have also received products that i love to death and use quite frequently now. For me getting the products i like make the $10 a month more than worth it. Also getting the duds are ok by me too in a way. Some of the products i have been sent seemed great on paper but didnt work for me. Had i gone out and bought these products rather than getting them through Birchbox i would have wasted so much money. I would recommend that you go for the monthly payment plan instead of the per year option. That way if you decide it is not for you you can cancel.

I'm extremely curious myself. It'd save me a lot of money- I get by a reeeally long time on samples.

I'm also wondering if anyone uses different services they might prefer to Brichbox?

Thankyou Erin! That was really helpful! :D

I've previously written on the topic of which boxes are worth the money. I do feel that birchbox is worth it IF you're good at getting referrals. So far, in the six months I've been a member, between referrals and reviews I've earned over 900 pts which is $90 to use on their site (I've since redeemed 500 pts on Birchbox Man box). Basically I've paid $60 out of pocket and earned $90 from them, in a way, a $30 profit.

huh... Interesting. :) I can fill out reviews just fine, referalls? Well, that one is a little tough. :P I'll probably end up getting it though. ^.^

If you're a blogger or have a Facebook I would suggest putting your referral link up there.

Great thread, I'm still debating if I should join Birchbox or not. The concept seems great but I'm cautious. They say that the boxes include products from known brands, is this a regular thing, or is it like one well known brand every few months and random samples for the rest?? Can anyone give me an idea on this?

I think by "known" they mean that they aren't going to be sending things from generic brands no one's ever tried. They RARELY reveal what's going to be in the box before they send it out, which I think they did in December for some lip gloss.

"They say that the boxes include products from known brands, is this a regular thing, or is it like one well known brand every few months and random samples for the rest?? Can anyone give me an idea on this?"

It is a regular thing. Boxes are shipped monthly and all the companies Birchbox works with are sold at Sephora, Ulta or large department stores OR through a salon. SOME items can be found through drugstores (Superwhite for example) but all items are high quality items unlike other companies like GoGoGirlfriend that sends out stuff you can buy at Target or Walmart for $3 or less.

Boxes are send out randomly, that is they have a variety of boxes (see my blog for details http://zadidoll.blogspot.com/2011/12/birchbox-december-boxes_09.html ) and typically send out between 10 to 25 varieties depending on the month. What you get though is based on how you filled out your profile so it is a crap shoot in that you will not know what you get until your either get the box or your account is update.

If you want to subscribe to a company that you KNOW what you're getting each month for $10 go with MyGlam or BeautyArmy (launches January 1 2012) because with MyGlam they tell you what will be in that month's bag (only 1 variety) and BeautyArmy you get to pick your samples from what's listed that month.

I cancelled my birchbox subscription after 3 months hoping that I will see a change.

My daughter cancelled her after... I signed her up in July and December was her last box... so..... six months. She used all her pts to buy some products (for free) and they gave her another 100 pts for the December mishap but she said she won't be using those points any time soon since there is nothing she wants for $10 on their site and she doesn't want to pay any more money since she's a poor student with very tight finances.

Since being a member (since June 2011) I've earned 1000 pts and have used all my points. I bought the BB Man box (I'm still kicking myself for not putting something else in like the Last Card to make my total $49.95) and used my other 500 pts recently to buy some stuff and paid $5.95 OOP once I used the BBLOVE code ($20 off $75) and my 500 pts ($50). If it weren't for their customer service AND the BB pts system I probably would have quit a long time ago too.
