my mother has been the manager of a gas station for like 16 or 17 years. during this time, she has done incredible things, raising $1000's of dollars for charity by dying her hair more bizarre than mine has been & dressing up as raggity ann on one of the hottest days of the year, to pump gas for donations to a children's hospital.

my mom is pretty much the poop. totally love her.

but the other day, it's like the heaven's opened up (with a beaming light for added effect), i laid eyes on this beautiful masterpiece & asked her "what's THAT?!!!" from the spark in my eye, she knew that every intention of taking that out to the camper to use next year was gone. she'd never see it again, untouched from my cosmetic fingers.

up until i actually took the photo for this, i had all intentions of using it for make up. but after the flash went off, bottles of nail polished started dancing in my head ^_^

i just became very satisfied with my vanity set up & naturally i would find this perfect little gem after the fact. so i'm unsure of what it will be used for yet.

i'll decorate over the writing some how, probably by measuring out paper & sliding it over. my mom said her asst. manager took a smaller rack just like this, but now it's just sitting in her garage, so i think i'm going to try to get it as well. the one i have is slightly too big for my vanity even if i wanted it there. :p

so just keep your eyes & imaginations open! ask your local gas station if they're going to be getting rid of some displays. i once used a potato chip holder; a long metal rod, with alligator clips attached, to hold pictures! drugstores as well. i know i brought a lot of random things home from CVS to use that we were trashing. (my mother HATES me working retail.)

any other random storage ideas? i just saw balmaholictv use a napkin/utensil holder for lipsticks & eyeshadow palettes!

thanks guys! i threw most of it in there just going by color. the second row is "decorative" polishes (cracks, holos, glitters) & top/base coats & oils/treatments. it's actually nice to see all my polishes on there & look at the room i have left. after keeping them in plastic bins for years, i for sure thought i had hundreds of polishes after digging, haha!

i just suppose now it's an excuse to expand my collection a little! :p

thanks andrea! it's especially easy to get your hands on stuff like this if you have someone on the inside! haha. i suggest being extra friendly to your cashier if you're a regular. ;)

also; drugstores! especially when the cosmetics sections is getting a makeover. & we all know the signs of that: totes & carts full of make up, boxes & displays randomly thrown about.

Ashley I love it!!! I think one of the best parts of cosmetics of any kind is packaging and the way you choose to organize/store it. Creative points for sure!
