I have a few MAC products and I really like them but, I am having a hard time paying for them becasue they are great but expensive. I also heard that NYX is very good quality and inexpensive if you use NYX please tell me what you think!
Would your rather have NYX or MAC?
To be honest, I would personally rather have MAC when it comes to face products, like a foundation or powder. As for other products, like lip sticks or eye shadows, I would go either way... I am not opposed to buying a dupe for a high-end product if the quality is good & it's almost spot-on to the original! ;-)
NYX round lipsticks have amazing pigmentation. Lasting power? Not so much. They wear off real easy so you would have to keep retouching up your lips. I noticed when I wear a base color and the lipstick on top it lasts a bit longer then without. Lately I've been wearing MAC Myth as my base then NYX Narcisuss on top and it lasts up to 2-4 hours of wear. For lip products I would say NYX but then for face products I would stick with MAC.

Fortunately, I am very satisfied with products that I can purchase at places like Wal-Mart. Try it out and see what works. Read reviews if you're unsure about certain products and see where it goes from there. It feels good once you find something great, but inexpensive!

MAC is definitely not the best of the makeup brands, btu they do have some good products. Their powders, concealers, and lipsticks are great. Their cremesheen glasses are the only lip gloss they have that's really good. The NYX girls gloss and mega shine gloss are great and more pigmented than the lip glass and less sticky. NYX does great single shadows, but every once in a while you will find a stinker. When they are good though, they are good! I think MAC's eyeshadows are actually not fantastic quality, but they have some great unique colors and the Matte2 formula is great. I actually hate the NYX round lipsticks, but their diamond sparkle lipsticks are really nice. I have experienced far better quality in NYX powder blushes than in MAC powder blushes. The newly reformulated MAC blushcremes are so terrible! Stay away! Overall I would go to NYX for color products and MAC for complexion products, except foundation. MAC foundations are really not that great.

There are some good MAC products and there are some good NYX products. Also there are tons of other products out there that are great as well. As for NYX I love love love their mosecic blushes and mega shine lip glosses. The MAC products that I stick to are the foundations, concealers and powers and on occasion I see something that speaks to me and I buy it. I started out buying everything MAC but eventually I've realized that there are so many other brands out there was products that are equal to or better.

If you're going for eyes and lips, I would go for NYX. Paired with a great eye primer, the NYX shadows show up just as vibrant as MAC. Thing is, you can't test out the NYX colors like you can with MAC because they just leave it open on display. I've had a couple trial and error moments with undesirable eyeshadows.
Face products, I wouldn't go with MAC or NYX but between the two, choose MAC. Never tried NYX face products but it's just my personal preference to go with a higher end product for my face. I've used MAC for over six years and I've just come to find that the product itself is far too heavy for that lightweight-heavy coverage that I want. Nevertheless, I would still go with MAC over NYX (over the counter bias).
If I could recommend a product: Make Up Forever HD or Bobbi Brown primer/foundation/concealer/powder. Both very lightweight yet still achieves that desired coverage for problem spots. These two brands also won't clog your pores like I found MAC does.
Oh well, it's never too late to start applying make up and you definitely have a lot of freedom to explore!
