Can anybody recommend a good shampoo and conditioner for thin hair?

My hair is on the thin side, and I shed a lot. I'm honestly surprised that I'm not bald. ;-)

I'm trying to grow out my hair for my wedding in about a year, and the longer it gets the thinner it looks.

Thanks!

I don't think there's actually a shampoo out there that can make your hair literally thicker... but whenever I get my hair trimmed regularly I noticed 1. it feels thicker because the ends aren't all broken off 2. I shed less 3. it grows faster!

Nioxin brand shampoos and conditioners were forumlated for people who are experiencing hair loss.. maybe you could give that a try.

If all else fails there's always extenstions for your wedding????

NEXXUS makes great S&C and other hair treatments specially formulated for those with thinner hair. You can find them pretty much in any store, but you'll have to search in beauty supply stores to find the specific formulas that target thin/breakable hair. I myself have hair on the thin side (yeah, totally skipped the thick asian hair gene), and just like you I shed a lot cuz my hair shaft is literally baby-fine. Honestly, products that will thicken your hair shaft are generally effective with frequent use, so you can't really have a product that'll do the job once (sucks, I know). There are steps though to help strengthen your hair:

1) it's a pain in the ass, but start skipping washes every now & then to let natural oils work through your hair. constantly washing it w/ shampoos plays a huge part in hair damage.

2) get your hair trimmed every 3 weeks or so, or just every month. the more often you get rid of split ends, the faster & healthier the hair growth. (the longer split ends stay, it'll just spiral up the shaft & thin your hair out even more).

3) it helps to brush your hair with a natural bristle hair brush, preferably with the air cushion padding, as it helps to massage your scalp & distribute the natural oils to give your hair a more soft feel & better manageability. (just a tip, if yuo get tangles, use a COMB, but a brush to get them out).

4) TAKE BIOTIN PILLS! it promotes healthy hair, skin & nails & I kid you not.. it works. I buy mine from Wal-Mart, it's a 120-capsule supply of 5000mcg (the higher, the better). My hair & nails grow super fast & anything for the skin is always a plus, and you just take one every day.

Sorry for the long post!! LOL but I really hope some of this helps.

Thanks so much for your advise.

Didn't even think about the Biotin supplements, but that is a great idea!
