Any suggestions for a 1" ceramic hair straightener? I'm looking to invest in a new one, one that isn't too expensive.

I've been using my Chi for almost a year now and I love it. I got it at Costco for $50 and the silk infusion for $10 which is a steal! I've read some reviews online with the basic Chi straightener that I own but I honestly haven't had any problems with it.

I am in love with my Amika hair straightener! I have it in pink ..for about 3 years now and I've had no problem with it. Ive used so many (Chi, hot tools, etc) and they all break but not this one http://www.teaseandtweeze.blogspot.com/

I've heard good things about the chi but i've also heard about some issues people have had with it.

I saw the Amika straightener at the mall and the sales lady offered it to me for $100, would that be a good deal. I'm not sure if you can get it anywhere cheaper than that?

I would definitely say thats a good deal but I havent shopped for them since I got mine so I'm not sure if the original price has changed or if thats a price drop :/ but my hubby got me mine for christmas three years ago and at that time they were about $250 when they first came out in my mall. Have you also checked online for prices? If you dont see anything below $100, I would say its a great deal shes offering you!

and the problem I had with my Chi was with the cord...for some reason the wiring got messed up (where it connects to the handle) and would keep shutting off my flat iron every 2 minutes..it was sooo annoying. It happened to TWO of my Chis :(

you cant really find good cheap straighteners anymore, especially if they are ceramic. i would say invest in an expensive one that will probably last you for a couple of years. So as long as you take care of it, it will stay in good condition and will work like you just bought it. I have heard really good things about the Chi as well. Also make sure that when you do anything to your hair that involves heat, even if it is ceramic, always use a thermal protector for you hair.

I got my Chi on Amazon when it was selling for much cheaper than it is now (only $60!). I was wary from the reviews from people who had wiring issues with theirs, but I decided to try it out anyway. I've had mine for...3.5 years and it's still going strong. I seriously swear by it and use it at least 3 times a week, and I definitely don't treat it delicately! My cousin has been using hers for more than 4. My mom fell in love with mine, so I bought her one two years ago and none of us have had any problems. Anyway, it's a little bit of a gamble on whether or not you get a faulty one. I don't think I could live without mine! Good luck!

I use a Solia which my hus purchased for me from folica.com. I've had it for almost a year and it's great!

Amika is a good one, I paid about $80 for my flat iron and the tourmaline which is amazing for wrap around curls. They say they are priced at $250.00 and then they lower the price saying that they are giving you a discount, I would not pay more than $100 for it, try bargaining with them. I love my Amika!!

I also have a Chi that I have had for about 3 years now and is still my favorite.

Sally's carries one by Ion, I don't remember the model but it was around $60 it was one of my first flat irons and I had it for over 5 years and one day it just died. If you go to Sally's and tell them you want to try it, they would let you that way you know it works, or ask about the returning policy.

The Paul Mitchell Express Ion 1.25 flat iron and the GHD are ones that I love but that is a little bit more pricer on the pricer side, and those are ones I use on clients.

Chi Silk Infusion, Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Serum or Joico K-Pak restorative oil are great to use for super straight hair with no fly aways, I recommend putting it on damp hair, on dry hair it will make it look greasy and lifeless. It is also a lot better for your flat iron so the product doesn't burn and crust onto the plates.

Also, the problem with the shortage may be caused by wrapping the cord around the flat iron with it clamped down, that is really bad for your cord, and the spring in your flat iron, so don't do it ladies! Just let your flat iron be open and free.:)

One word, Corioliss (the C2 ones).
You wont find a good cheap one. this 1 is AMAZING, SERIOUSLY. I have very frizzy, curly, dry hair. & nothing would work with it. But this one, it's magical, seriously. I have been using it for the past 3 years (I have the old generation & the new one). the best :)

Diana, that is exactly what I was doing and youre right, It's very bad for it and I'm almost positive thats how it broke! (I was young and had no idea at the time).

Dont get me wrong, I still love Chi and would recommend it any day..but I am realllyyy in love with my pink Amika! ;)

Thanks guys!

So, i'm torn between three...the Amika, GHD, and the Croc. I saw a couple of youtube videos of the CROC wet to dry and looks fantastic. I think i can get it on amazon for like $75. anyone know anyone who had the croc?

Those wet to dry ones never seemed to be healthy for your hair.

I'm going to vote for GHDs.

I have had mine for over 4 years, and my first pair for nearly 5 years. I used my first pair religiously for about 3 years and intermittently ever since, and my second pair I've used all 4 years, literally 3-4 times a week.

They haven't broke once. They don't smell. The literally heat up in seconds. They are amazing - and my hair feels totally fabulous after.

(I have a small pair and medium pair if anyone is wonder why I have two - I cut my hair really short so I needed a smaller pair and when it gets longer I use the mediums.)
