Have you visited them? Tour each school and find out as much as you can before making your final decision. Make sure you consider who the teachers are and that they are relevant in the industry. I didn't go to either of those schools, but those were some pieces of advice I had. Also, think about where you'll be living and that situation. It's a big decision overall so just make sure you do your research. =)

MUD. The portfolio and hair class is basically what separates them from Cinema.

Definitely tour the school... you can always self teach yourself!! YouTube is a helpful source.

Definately visit the school. I had a friend who went to Cinema and she didn't really like it and it costed too much. If anything you could do skin care programs, get certified and then do workshops through particular makeup brands (Nigels beauty emporium in noho has workshops with smashbox, cinemasecrets has workshops in Burbank, Graftobian has workshops too) I would suggest either Lattc 2 semester prog or Santa Monica College (I will be doin this one) 18 week prog. Ultimately it boils down to practice, research, and more practice.

Are you also getting either a beautician or esthetician license? While makeup school is awesome, the license helps protect you legally with work.

I went and toured both MUD & Cinema before I made my decision. I went in thinking MUD was my top choice and ended up choosing Cinema. During my tour Cinema was much more friendly and student focused than MUD. But the main reason I chose Cinema is because there your teachers are top artists in the industry, all of them have worked and are currently working in the industry (several are oscar nominated). Also Cinema is well know for having IMATS winners and is always featured in Makeup Artist Mag. The reputation speaks for itself. They also offer career help and in my first month in LA and being a student I booked 4 jobs thru the school. Cant say enough good things about it. :)
