I was wondering if its bad to have lead in your lipstick? a coworker was telling me that there are some with a high concentration of lead in them. She mentioned a test you can do to test if it does: you rub a piece gold ( a gold ring is what we used) and if it turned black it has lead in it. is this true? or like is it really bad? they said it can cause cancer? most of my lipsticks are cheap brands but they're like nyx, avon, and others. but I also have a few macs. most of them did turn black. I'm really upset cause its a collection that has been building and I use them like everyday. is there a way to counteract it or something? what do I do?

I've never heard of that before. Erm maybe contact the brand. They could give you more information. Maybe try a lipstick from body shop.x

Yes obviously lead is very bad in your lip products because you're ingesting it into your system. Back in the day basically all lipstick was made with lead. Definitely do that test and try to use products that are lead free. You don't want to cause your body serious damage over a lipstick.

I am trying to figure out the same thing. I am researcher. I like to research things out. I asked recently and some say "it's just a small amount". However, if you continue to re-apply and re-apply doesn't that add more? Especially since it is found in more red shades. I am more confused than I was coming into it.
