So... I have oily/sensitive skin and adult acne. I am looking to revamp my makeup bag for my wedding day but there are so many options out there it will take me ages to try them all!
Has anyone got any advice on a good primer/foundation/powder that would be suitable for my skin??
I've been looking at Nars and MAC - what are your thoughts??
I have sensitive, combination skin that tends to lean a litte dry on my cheeks. If you're looking for foundation for your wedding, I would DEFINITELY recommend a long wearing foundation. I use Estee Lauder Double Wear in the shade Shell (1C1) - which is the lightest. If you don't have really fair skin, MAC Prolongwear Foundation is also great, it just has a smaller shade range that leans a little dark, but the formula is awesome - medium to full, build-able coverage that LASTS. My recommendations are:
Primer: Bare Minerals Prime Time (perfect on my sensitive skin)
Foundation: some type of long wearing foundation - Estee Lauder Double Wear, MAC Prolongwear, or Revlon Colour Stay if you want a good drug store alternative.
Powder: Setting powders tend to show up WHITE in photos, so you may want to stay away from that or use it sparingly. I recommend just a fine loose powder in your skin tone, or set your foundation with a spray. I prefer the spray, powder tends to settle on my imperfections. I LOVE Urban Decay All-Nighter setting spray.
For primer, Hourglass Mineral Veil primer ,is amazing for oily skin and gentle for sensitive skin. You can ask at Sephora for a sample to try it out before you buy it.
For foundation go for something that doesn't have SPF, two I would suggest are MAC's Face and Body and Make Up For Ever's Face and Body. Both give light to medium but buildable coverage and look incredibly natural on. You can then add a heavy coverage concealer for anywhere you need it. Something like Vichy Dermablend Stick or Laura Mercier's Secret Camouflage.
NARS Sheer Matte & Glow are nice since they don't have SPF either but I don't find them to be long wearing at all so I'm not sure I would suggest them for your wedding day. Look for a loose powder to set, it will be less cakey than a pressed one. Laura Mercier, Cover FX, NARS, MUFE, all make great loose powders and you will want one that is translucent so it just finishes off your makeup and sets instead of adding more colour which could look heavy.
