Wash daily w/ salicylic acid. Spot treat w/ benzoyl peroxide.
If you are a natural gal that leans toward more natural products you can wash with purpose face wash & spot treat with tea tree oil.
I focus on prevention mainly: ie; oil free products, not touching face, removing makeup, etc...

I use a little bit of honey and some kosher salt or sea salt, I mix that together and apply that to my pimples for 20-30 min. This works really well for me! I feel it working (if it stings the slightest bit, that means its working haha) on my whiteheads, and cystic acne spots!

I totally agree with Jables, I bought a benzoyl peroxide gel from target (its a target brand product) for like $4 and it works AMAZINGLY as a spot treatment! If I have a spot or pimple, I just put that on it before I moisturize (and after if its really gnarly haha) and by morning it has dried up any sort of whitehead or pimple on my face! Of course, no product will make that pimple just disappear, but the benzoyl peroxide gel speeds along that process so much!!! I hope this helps :D

I use to have the same problem. Hers's my regimin that fixed it. Netrogena acne wash- for acne. dr.brandt microdermabrasion- to unclog pores, exfoliate, and speed up clearing spots, and clinique's even better- spot removal, and good ole sunscreen cetaphil- to prevent spots from getting dark. Hope this helps

WholeFoods has a GREAT skin care line called "kiss my face" I truly swear by this I've tried so many things and nothing works, some even make it worst, I buy the exfoliating face wash, pore mask, and finish with the acne treatment gel i do this twice a day and ALWAYS see results in a week, i also take vitamines cause its a good idea to take care of your skin problems from the inside out and fish oils are great for skin care as well as hair and nail health, to treat my dark markes i use "ambi" bleaching cream its moisturizing {and smells so good}

I have a few toners and such on a topic ive made here but ill be adding more, here is an example of one, mix 1/3 water,1/3 witch hazel and 1/3 apple cider vinegar into a bottle and apply to your face daily as a toner.

i actually bought soap and glorys fab pore hot cloth cleanser literally melts off the makeup and cleanses really well. then i use a toner a good one is thyers witch hazel and rose and i got a sample of murad facial mask and spot gel and my acne is going away in 3 days what ive been trying to do in 3 weeks. love it!!! but so damn expensive. i know if you put visine on your red marks it will reduce inflimation. and benzyol peroxide is good bc its what dermatologist prescribe in their medications for acne.
