I wanted to post this in the professionals thread but that doesn't get much attention, so here it is. I am already a licensed cosmetologist, and here in IL all you have to do to do the hair side of things in a funeral home is take a resume and business card and they'll call you.
My question to any MUAs on here is any of them have provided services to the deceased. I was told the pay is significantly higher if you're able to do the makeup side of it. I'm interested in taking classes but I have no idea where to start, as is it a specialized service and I live in a relatively small town. Any tips, stories, suggestions, anything?

I'm interested in this too but have no idea where to begin and how to train myself to be comfortable around someone who has passed

It seems like it already got buried amongst all the other questions >.<. I know this is weird, but everyone keeps asking me if I'd be creeped out, but honestly I guess I'm just naturally at ease with mortality. One of the things that finally pushed me to try to get into this is that when my grandma passed the cosmetologist there did a horrible job (and oh did I voice my opinion!) and I truly want to prevent any other family from feeling the way I did at that time.

That's a great reason to get into it. Whoever did my grandmother did an amazing job, she looked like herself
