Okay, first of all cut off all your dead ends. Nothing you can do will put split ends back together. Next, invest in a good sulfate and sodium chloride free shampoo and conditioner (I like the L'oreal EverStrong line), as well as a good hair mask/deep conditioner (I like Macadamia's Deep Repair Masque, and Aussie's 3 Minute Miracle). In the shower, wash your hair first thing. Shampoo only your roots, and condition only below your ears. Once that's done, apply your hair mask liberally to the ends of your hair, and a small amount to the rest of your head. Comb it through until you have no tangles, and then put your hair in a bun for the rest of your shower. Washing it out should be the last thing you do. Aside from that, try to lay off heat styling if you can. If you can't, be sure to use a heat protector (I like John Freida's Full Repair spray). Also, since you're finger combing your hair in the shower, there should be fewer knots, so you shouldn't need to brush it as much. Brushing can be harsh, and it can break your hair. Also, if you have to brush your hair, NEVER brush while it's wet. Wet hair is weaker than dry, and more easily broken.

Try anything that has argan oil in it. I got some pro naturals moroccan argan oil for my hair, their products are sulfate, sodium and silicone free so they’re super moisturizing.
