I would like to know if anyone uses their fingers for blending (concealer/foundation) when working on clients. I know that some people feel uncomfortable having a MUA actually touch their face and I was taught to stick with a latex sponge but sometimes fingers work better over certain areas. What are your thoughts/experiences on the matter?
-Very new to the MUA scene :D

Well at first i thought the same thing: Do not use your fingers on clients but...sometimes you can get awesome finishes out of your makeup whit just using your finger so now I try to keep my hands as clean as possible and try to use my fingers a bit more. Sometimes I even explain to my client why i'm using my fingers :D

When I'm working on a client I first ask if they will feel comfortable to use my fingers and I sanitize again right before the application and have never got a no

I always ask first and sanitize before I touch them. I think it is more for show so clients know I care about sanitation and them. I've never had someone say no.

I ALWAYS sanitize my hands, regardless of what's being applied. I actually use eyeshadow applicators/sponges depending on the foundation/product. Brushes (being disinfected in between clients) are also very useful tools. :)

I love working with my fingers but am sure to always sanitize in front of the client and am sure they feel comfortable. Hygiene and hand sanitizing is essential in every situation and know what the rules are where you are working....for example at CNN they are restricted from working with their fingers so if I am designing a look for CNN artists I need to be sure not to demonstrate in that way.

You should have hand sanitizer in your kit anyway, so i don't see why it would be a problem. Unless, of course, the client is uncomfortable with it.

As long as the client sees you sanitizing your hands it shouldn't be a problem - sometimes the heat of your fingers can help products blend into the skin. Although if the client feels openly uncomfortable with it, just go for a sponge.

If a client is too picky. Q,tips work well for blending as well
