Glitz Your Pitz! - views on armpit hair.

Hey guys, so I posted a photo (attached) a few days ago showing my matching neon green bangs, eyebrows, sideburns and... duh duh duhhhhh... armpit hair!
I've been on Beautylish for over a year now and this is the first time I have seen any negativity or criticism from other beautylish users - I've only ever seen openness and positivity on this site (which is why I love Beautylish so damn much!).
Anyway, for some reason, the colourful armpit hair seemed to rock the boat and it left me wondering... why do people find armpit hair so shocking and, for want of a better word, scary?

I'd love to know what your views are on this topic. Why do you shave it off? If you don't shave, what is your motivation for letting it grow? And also, do you think it's ok for men to have it?

I think people have strong opinions on this subject but I'd appreciate if we could keep it friendly and remember that everyone is entitled to their own opinion

In all honesty, I couldn't care less about armpit hair, and I think dyeing it is actually pretty cool. I would let all of my body hair grow, but I can't because I'm a runner (leg hair slows me down) and I have this treatment I have to put on my underarms, which have to be shaved so the treatment can get to the skin. I think that as long as someone feels confident and is totally comfortable, then let them dye their pits!

I'm not a fan of hair.. period! on myself that is..it makes me itchy and always makes me feel extra sweaty but I'm diggin the neon arm pit hairs. If I were comfortable letting my hair grow, I would so rock it out!

I think its totally nasty for a women to not shave her armpits... first reason : its for hygienic reasons if you have hair you sweat more = mustiness is soo not sexy...reason 2 its soo not feminine.
I love men with hair though but defenitly not for women.

Shave if you wanna shave, don't if you don't. I don't think its nasty for women to have armpit hair even though I shave, I think its intriguing, you wonder..."WHY?!" To dye it though is fucking genius.

Armpits in general are just pretty nasty, in my opinion. Having a bush full of it isnt very flattering and thats any type of body hair. I hate it can't stand it but to each its own. The pic just looks like a blob of yellow in your skin.

I think some think it nasty for women to have hairy armpits bc that's what the media says. So many people listen to the media and society. Also, people are not use to seeing women with hairy armpits so its foreign to them while in other countries it's a norm and even beautiful. I say beautiful is in the eye of the beholder. Do what you want to do and don't listen to what others may say. I personally shave my underarms because I'm an athlete and sweat a lot. But for the fall and winter I do not shave my legs.

I think you look like a rockstar in that pic :)

I never really thought about why I shave my armpits.. I guess it's society that made me think that I have to...

But I saw the comments on your photo saying you are disgusting cos you got armpit hair... That's just ridiculous!! I don't understand why we think parts of our bodies are disgusting!

I really like massaging my feet, and people thinks its the most disgusting thing in the world to touch your feet... but why?? I think I have beautiful feet...

And you have a beautiful armpit, so more power to the yellow armpit hair ;)!

To die it is pure awesome and I only care about shaving my armpits if I wear a tank top cuz you know you have to raise your hands up to answer questions in class. I think that when men have armpit hair I don't care as long as its like half an inch lol.

Great to hear all of your different opinions guys! And thanks for keeping it cool and friendly :) Keep em coming! I love hearing all the different angles on this subject

Ya know... I think this is pretty cool. for years... well in all my shaving years I've struggled with shaving my underarms:( I've never been able to shave with out razor burn no matter what I've used and of course the "girls have to shave" stigma made me try day after day for years to the point of near tears... and I must say if this trend kicks off well, hats off to ya girls! go for it! maybe I just may join the trend too! lol, not for trend sake though! but because it should be okay no matter what and well... I like color!
ps=
ive actually grown my armpit hair out. it kinda just happened by accident and laziness and a stint of constant razor burn and ingrown hairs but i did... and i must say i don't feel as if i sweat more cause of my armpit hair nor do i smell any more or any worse. it did get to a point it was itchy and a bit annoying but that phase did't last long enough for me to go running to the ALMIGHTY RAZOR. i even use deodorant with no aluminum. i do have to apply more often but my pet peeve is hygiene and i've always kept deodorant and such with me just to be able to keep fresh and clean so, i don't feel its an added burden.
