hey everyone,

i have a wedding coming up in september (i know its far away) but its 9 women including the bride and they have to be done by 9am. i figure i would get to the hotel at abt 5:45am to set up and get started and possibly bring an assistant but the scary part is finishing on time. normally when i do makeup that has a trial it takes me abt 30-40mins. im a beginner at freelancing and a whole lot of work is coming my way that i didnt expect. i was thinkin abt hosting a makeup party for abt 10-20 ppl just to get use to diff skin tones. does anyone have any sugg to build up speed?

I have been getting work for fashion shows and photo shoots and they always seem to run behind, Which means I am rushed in my work :) I try to keep a smile on never let them see me sweat and allogate 20 mins per face I set my watch to remind me half way thru so I can asses what is left to be done.
BY the way which area are you from? I am looking to get into bridal so if your really looking for help/assistant maybe we can talk further about that. How did you promote yourself for bridal work? Good Luck and make sure no matter what ur having fun and enjoying your work!!

Hey. thanks for the reply and i followed you back. im from philadelphia but i am willing to travel as far as the client pays for lol. im also trying to get into fashion shows and photo shoots. i need to build my portfolio and just tryin to stay busy with work (abt 4 events a month is all i can handle right now since im married). i'll def try to set a timer for the event. i think what holds me up is the shadows i use. i have a wales palette and it is soo chalky and some colors arent pigmented enough. i need to invest in better shadows.

I am in NYC so if u find ur self out here lets do lunch and pick each other's brain lol I also don't mind traveling, I have been building my kit for a little bit now and I use a combo of drug store and high end. I find that I mostly use my urban decay naked palette #1 and my Mac palette which is full of neutrals at the moment but when I need fun colors I always reach for NYX and Sugar Pill. I did get some coastel scents palettes but I find those to be chalky. I would say NYX has everything you need starting out and putting them in a Z palette really saves time also try too depot ur lip stick it saves a lot of time too.
