I'm trying to get into alternative modeling and my fiance is an amateur photographer. he's offered to help me make a portfolio... but how do I go about it??

I highly recommend getting a ModelMayhem Page. Have your Fiance take the 4 required pictures and then fill out their required information. The Modelmayhem page will allow you to get some awesome connections. I'm not an Alt Model per say, but MM ( ModelMayhem) has been an awesome thing in my life. Don't be afraid to accept Trade For Shoots, once on the site. Asking for someone to pay you straight off will likely get you laughed at. Other than that, just search for photographers and models in your area who are already part of that type of modeling and go for it! They will be able to give you even more detailed facts and tips and tricks about that exact world of modeling, but MM is most definitely the place to meet them!

Google up an agency nearby and look at their site. They have certain criteria that you have to meet (age, weight, height, shoe size, bust size, etc).

Also, make sure you're ready to commit to being a model. I always repeat this since these threads are endless..but yeah. Modelling isn't just taking photos, you have to know that people will criticize you, pressure you, push you out of your comfort zone etc.

There are not very many legit agencies for Alt Modeling, which is completely different from High fashion or commercial, and for Alt modeling, there are no actual requirements. Part of being an Alt Model is being different from the normal standards of beauty the regular industry uses. The other part is normally body modifications, and often a much more racy style of photos normal, which is why I recommend not using your real last name.

Vanessa, some of your post is true though, but the fact that Kaylee actually knows what type of modeling she wants to do makes her different from the majority of these posters, who are often clueless on where to even begin to think about modeling. Yes, you will always have some person critiquing you, but that is actually a good thing. That is how models grow. Yes, absolutely Alt Modeling will talk you out of your comfort zone, but I'm thinking that Kaylee is expecting that as she knows that this is the type she wants to pursue.

I'm prepared for being judged, and I'm okay with that. its part of why I live my body mods so much. I want to show people that its not ugly. that it makes you unique and beautiful. I also know that it can get racy at times and I think it adds to the beauty.
