Thx to reading others reviews on here & a friend who bought the wrong shade & gave me a bottle for free, I have been using Revlon Colorstay for combination/oily skin all winter & i love it!!
But now that spring is here & summer around the corner I need something that covers just as well but is not as heavy.
Besides sweating, I produce more oil in the summer too :(
I've tried tinted moisterizers b4, and they make my face shiny....i don't need it more shiny (lol). Plus they don't go on as well or cover as smoothly as the colorstay.
I really need the coverage.
I know adding a primer would help...but i'm really looking for a lighter routine.
Thx in advance for ur help :)
Revlon does have colorstay for combination/oily skin. I haven't tried it because my skin is normal to super dry, but try that first. I know higher end ones definitely have foundations for what you need as well, but if you're like me, you don't want to spend too much money. As for the primer, I mean I wear one year-round (at LEAST a thicker moisturizer) just because it helps my foundation stay & it fills in fine lines and bumps so my foundation doesn't look cracked or uneven. I also set my foundation with a press powder or loose translucent powder & that helps to pick up some of the moisture as well. Hope I helped a little bit, good luck :)
I definitely think you should try something with that is made for long wear. In the summer I use either MAC Prolong Wear (NC15 mixed with NW20) or Estee Lauder Double Wear (Linen). Both of these have a natural/matte finish, control oil, and STAY ON through sweating and the whole deal. Both feel really light on the skin because they're a thin, liquid foundation. They're long wear they don't need to be set with a powder so that removes some bulk from your routine. As Alexis suggested I would recommend a primer! I use Bare Essentials Prime Time to even out my skin tone texture.
I really like Makeup Forever HD foundation! It's got good coverage (not as super covering as colorstay) but it is a much lighter formula than the colorstay! I set it with Cover FX's translucent powder, which doesn't seem to add any "weight" to my face at all. Also, you could try Urban Decay's setting spray Deslick as a primer for something lighter and to also help oil control.
If you want the same coverage, but not to heavy...
If you have a fav moisturizer already...
What you can do is mix the two. That way you're not introducing new products to your skin, that may or may not irritate it. That way, you're using the products you already love.
I've tried mixing my Revlon ColorStay with my CeraVe AM lotion and it covers all my imperfections, but is very light. I tend to do this method when I'm in a rush and need to get out the door...
@ shelly T....yes i do change my routine.
For work during the week I don't mind so much putting the colorstay on & powder & all
but i want something faster on the weekends.
i really appreciate all of ur suggestions...i'm gonna try them out. esp jane a.'s
thanx ladies :)
Use a light moisturizer instead of a cream one.
Try a BB cream! I love Estee Lauder's and Garnier's. You get coverage, but it's light, and it's a treatment too. So just apply that then put on a powder foundation on your T-Zone if you're oily there. Also try using a mattifying lotion in the summer as your moisturizer.
Don't forget to exfoliate (tone) in the summer especially if you're oily!
This is what I tell my customers when they come to my counter :)
Personally, I use a BB cream and a light dusting of powder in the summer cause I'm the exact same way and it works perfectly for me, especially as I have scarring I need to cover.
@ amanda p....what is a mattifying lotion? what are the brand names that sell them?
rite now i use a generic version of ole of olay's daily face lotion....it's been working for me for years. but i'm always up for trying new things :)
Revlon Photoready Mouse is so light and has an amazing flawless finish! but I much rather wear BB creams during the summer just because its so hot and humid in Louisiana
I use te nuetrogena foundation but i put some in the back of my hand and with a damp brush ill pick up a little bit ad work it into my skin it thinks it out but still covers like it is supposed to then i just set it with a wuickdusting of powder and it lasts all day for me
I agree with the recommendations for theMakeup Forever HD foundation. A bb cream eould be great too. l'Oreal and Maybeline are both coming out with one soon if not already available at Target. I have the same problem with skin and sunmertime!

Just curious: Do you change your skincare routine at all during the summer? If you don't, you may want to think about that. :)

I use Makeup Forever's HD Foundation! It's also in how you apply it. I stipple and swirl it and I only use two pumps!
