if you use waterproof mascaras they hold curls better. I have straight lashes that are temperamental too :/ it sucks!

I'd try using a wet-formula mascara, like Maybelline Falsies, and then a waterproof like Covergirl LashBlast. They hold an amazing curl together, for me at least, and I have pretty straight lashes myself.

I really like Diorshow mascara in waterproof, apply two or three coats with at least 30 seconds between coats! Also before applying mascara, try using a lash curler(they look scary but the do the job0
