I dyed my hair permanent blue black 3 or 4 weeks ago and last week I noticed that the black was almost gone and the blonde highlights I put in last year and my natural dark brown hair was starting to show through with a hint of blue dye. My question is has anyone experienced this fading when they dyed their hair permanent black? and how can you keep the color in longer?

Ive been dying my hair 'permanent' black for years and this ALWAYS happens to me, and it shocks me that people say that black is the hardest color to get out of hair because it seems to be repelled by my hair. This also happens to all my friends, but we're all naturally brunettes..although I doubt that has anything to do with it, my theory is that naturally lighter haired people like natural blondes are somehow more porous to the black. I was talking about it with a hairdresser and hair porousness varies from individual to individual so that makes sense.
I bet you know the drill to keep hair color longer; wash as little as possible, like 3 times a week, with cold water and sulfate-free hair products, etc. but that personally doesnt prolong the hair fading period for me. All in all, retouching it more often seems to be the only solution

I'm a natural blonde and when I dye my hair semi-permanent black, it can take up to 2 months for it to turn the darkest brown. I think it just depends on the dye, your hair type and how you treat it.
