Hair Dilemma. Help!

I recently tried glue in extensions, however they were a big NO!! They didn't stay in properly and I hated the feeling.. So I decided to yank them out as slowly as I could with conditioner..do you guys know any tips of how to make your hair grow longer or thicker? I have pretty thick hair but I managed to take out a lot.
