Sunblock is a physical sun protection that blocks the Suns rays by just sitting on our skin therefore one does not need to wait to be out on the sun. It works instantly as you put it on, these are mineral ingredients such as zinc oxide and or titanium dioxide. These are safer for most skin types because it's the least irritating and the least to cause an allergic reaction.

Sunscreens are chemical sun protection and one needs to wait at least 20 minutes before being out in the sun until it gets absorbed in by the skin. These have the potential to irritate the skin or cause an allergic reaction. Ingredients include octynoxate, oxybenzone, avobenzone, octisolate, and probably more that I'm not familiar. These are usually a lot thinner In consistency because it is absorbed by the skin.

Sun block is typically a physical SPF. This is great for sensitive skin or people that feel a burning sensation when using sunscreen. It layers over the skin and blocks the sun rays from penetrating by deflecting or blocking it.
Sunscreen which is chemical absorbs the suns rays.
Sunblock usually contains zinc oxide and titanium dioxide and work immediately after application.
The only downside of physical sunblock is that they leave a white cast or can be chalky.
I use a sunblock by EltaMD which is tinted so that it's like applying a BB cream and I don't get left with the white cast.
