So I just got back from vacation, and my nose and under my eyes started peeling from sunburn. Any tips or tricks to help it heal faster? Thanks in advance ladies!

Put aloe on it and drink lots of water. Aloe very is the quickest way to put moisture back in the body without drinking water.

You could lie down with a water-saturated wash cloth on your face and allow the water to soak in (30 mins or so) and then you can GENTLY rub the dead skin off with the Wet washcloth. DO NOT be too aggressive & try to force it off. If it doesn't come off with a mild rubbing, then it's not ready to come off yet.

I would not suggest leaving any kind of water on your face for a long period of time... Water draws out moisture which will cause additional dryness and make the flaking even worse.

If you go to any drugstore you should be able to find moisturizers that contain aloe. Usually they will say "After Sun" care or something along those lines... You will continue to peel no matter what since that is your bodies way of getting rid of the damaged skin cells but the after sun moisturizer will help a bit.

With all due respect, under normal circumstances water can dry out the skin if the skin is dry. It happens when the water evaporates. But her skin is not dry, it's burned. It will eventually peel off, but saturating the skin will help loosen the dead skin & yes she may flake more. But that's what it's going to do anyway, it's just that the water will expedite the peeling. But I do agree on after sun moisturizers. Try to find waterless balms or butters, that will not only moisterize your skin, but will temporarily lay down the flakes and minimize the look of peeling skin. If the the skin product has no water in it, then it won't evaporate and dry out your skin. Balms don't evaporate, they just wear away.

Here is a n excerpt from LIVESTRONG.COM. It's referring to the body, but it's the same concept for the face.

Uhmmm unless it's saltwater, you should be fine putting a water-saturated washcloth on your face
Moisturizers and all that work by trapping moisture on the surface of the skin to keep it moisturized/hydrated.
Moisture=water not oils or anything like that, although oils work by trapping the water on the surface of your skin.

Dead skin is dried up, a washcloth with warm water will help rehydrate/soften the dead skin so it can come of more easily

I didn’t say she had dry skin and I’m aware it’s a burn. Leaving any kind of water on the skin will remove the surface lipids which will cause dryness and more peeling. To try and rush the process by using water to promote more peeling is risking damaging the good skin cells underneath which could lead to some scaring if she’s not careful... That was the point I was trying to make.

But to each their own…
