I'm looking to venture into name brand foundation. I have combination skin type. Since everything is pricey. Has anyone had any luck with Estee Lauder or Laura Mercier foundation? I'm stuck. I need to look fab for my vacation to New york...

I like the Estee Lauder Double Wear. And esp. since it is a long-wearing foundation which you might find useful if it's hot and muggy in NY. Also, Estee Lauder has an amazing shade range.

I agree with Estée Lauder double wear - I like the maximum cover formula in the blue tube personally because it's lightweight but is full coverage and works well for combo/oily skin.

I agree with Diana with the EL Maximum Coverage. It's funny, because it has more coverage than the regular Double Wear, but it has a thinner texture. Although the Maximum Coverage only has about 8 shades. For me, its worth it to buy two and mix them. Although I only use it as a facial concealer because it can be a little drying on my naturally dry skin.

Hailey, I used to love this foundation (Lancome teint idole) but since I have some dry patches it doesn't look,as good. what primer do you use? I can't seem to find one that make it look good,on my dry spots!

If you go to a department store that sells the foundations you want to try you can usually ask for a makeover using one and/or ask for samples of they have any - otherwise you can also watch product reviews on YouTube and find someone who has a similar skin type as you so you can get an honest review of how the product might feel on your skin from someone else's point of view

Dior Flawless fluid foundation is great for combination skin and has good coverage with shade range too. Channel's Perfection Lumiere is also great for combination skin types. I have them both and love the way my skin looks with either of them.
