Hey y'all! I'm participating in a children's camp this summer, and the theme is India. I have to dress up and look as authentic as possible, but I have no idea where to start! If anyone has any suggestions when it comes to the makeup/beauty aspects, I would greatly appreciate them! Also, I welcome any tips on wardrobe as well :) thanks so much in advance!!

For beauty, use more of brown eyeshadows and a pop of color to compliment the eye look. For the rest of the face, go natural or neutral. For jewelry, use studs on the forehead and forehead bangles.

Use long earrings as well.

If you want to look authentic then go for a saree with bun and a bindi on you forehead and jhumka or long ear rings
Once you decide what type of saree you are going to wear then I can help you with the makeup

Check out Kaushal Beauty on YouTube (I think I spelled her name right). She's Indian and does a lot of Indian style videos, especially for makeup (:

So it just depends what look you're going for, if it's an everyday type of thing or a more formal look.
Keep in mind, India is quite a diverse country there are different ethnicities within India and variations in clothing but a sari is quite standard.
Silk ones being more dressy.
I would look up makeup used by Bollywood actresses. I know kareena kapoor's favorite lipsticks are the Mac lipstick in "cherish" and "Viva Glam V"
A good kajal or kohl liner is a staple.
As for more dressy look, red lips are a staple and definitely gold.
And not the western type of gold. In Asia we use more 20 and 22k gold so it tends to look more saturated and almost a peachy gold rather than that diluted straight up yellow you see in the 14k and 18k jewelry commonly found in the west.
A good eyeshadow that I find matches the gold in Asian jewelry is the MAC eyeshadow in "Amber Light"
Whereas "Goldmine" is more similar to the 14k and 18k gold.

I would use one of the red dots they out I between their eyebrows. It is a symbol for beauty. Try brightly colored dresses on authentic sights.

If you wanna go for an authentic Indian look, I'd recommend:
•A brightly colored sari or salwar kameez. You can easily find these in literally any South Asian clothing boutiques ranging from super simple and classic to glamorous gowns.
•A super colorful makeup look. I mostly come across shimmery golden eyes with red statement lips but you could try to pull off the same color as your dress on the eyes if you wanna go all out. Also, make sure to focus on keeping the base more dewy, natural, and clean because the focus ultimately is ALWAYS the eyes, trust me. This is where water lining the eyes with kajal/kohl will bring the authenticity to your look.
•Wearing super decorate earrings or if you wish, a jeweled bindi but make sure to not go too crazy with the bindis because more than one takes away from the overall look.
Anyways, hope I was any help and I'd love to see what you come up with on here later!

I totally agree with vini N and megan :) girl ll look more beautiful when she wear a saree and d most important thing is earrings choose lyk jhumkas it ll add some prettiness wen you wear a saree and also red colour round shaped bindi suits well for saree or corresponding to your saree colour you can keep..use pink shade lipstick, use quality kajal for eyes, I suggest heels too if you are short otherwise go with your choice :) waiting to c your overall makeup..post your picture soon :)

Matching bindi and beaded ear rings would look good with simple anarkalis and salwars. Also if you pair a simple sari with golden jhumkas then it will look classy and at the same time simple. Also if you are wear salwars then plait you hair ( like french braids or a more stylish one). It will look good. Also many indians love wearing red lipsticks. It goes well with their skintone. You can try that. :)
