Benefit They're Real Mascara...

I received a sample of the Benefit They're Real mascara in my Birchbox yesterday, and today I thought , let's try it out. IT IS A CLUMPING NIGHTMARE! It took a 15 minute session with an eyelash wand and makeup remover and frustration to finally get it to look semi un-clumped! I was extremely disappointed because I had heard great things about it but I will not be recommending it to anyone. Rant over.

I found that there was a little bit of a learning curve with the They're Real to get my lashes to look long and full without looking clumpy.

First make sure you're wiping off the excess mascara from the tip of the wand and if you want to then gently dab a tissue on the wand to wipe off excess mascara.

Next wiggle the brush from the base of your lashes to the tip, movie up slowly. I find that the wiggling and the slow pace helps fully coat the lashes without putting too much product on them.

I definitely think this is a one coat mascara, meaning the more coats you put on the more clumpy your lashes will get. I've gotten my lashes to look wonderful with the They're Real with one coat (:

Also I'd just like to say they even though I've figured out how to make it work it's definitely not my favorite mascara. I keep it on hand just in case (I actually have 2 from different beauty boxes, lol)

Yeah I felt the same way about it - I hated the sample I got and it clumped too much and gave my lashes that spidery look - which I hate - I much prefer benefit bad gal

Definitely agree! Not only do I hate the formula, it clumps after one coat and is a pain to remove. Totally not worth it. I really wanted to like it because everyone else loved it but even one coat looked like way too much.

Personally, it's my holy grail mascara. I agree with Diana that it gives a long, spidery look, but I love that! I'm sorry it didn't work out for you.

I definitely agree with the negative reviews here. I tried real hard to like it at first. but it left my lashes super crispy and sticky with little volume and average length. it was hard to remove when I needed to yet it flaked half the day and was definitely not waterproof.
