I applied to become a beauty advisor at the Lancôme counter at Macy's. How do I make my application stand out? I signed up online but they did not even require a areésumé. Should I call them to ask for application status of go in and speak to the manager?

To be honest, when I was hired as a BA for Elizabeth Arden at a different chain of department stores, they didn't inquire about my makeup skills. It's more about sales (and retail experience). If/when you're brought in for an interview, they want to make sure you appear attractive and know the basics. If you're hired, they do continuing training, but with their products. It was very little about being a makeup artist and all about whether or not you made the daily sales goals.

Tina thank you very much for taking the time to help Shengmin with her questions and sharing your experience with working as a beauty advisor. Hopefully it helped her out.

If I were you, I should step in and talk to the manager. Then they can see you and get to know you. I can imagine that they get a lot of applications, so if you can show that you're worth it, you'ld have a bigger change..
