Soo I've had a few ear piercings such as upper lobe, helix and tragus, and they all got really swollen and sore (I've tried both needle and gun). I didnt move my third lobe for almost a year to let it heal properly, but it hurt so bad that I had to take it off! I don't know if my cartillage is too thick and gets shattered cause it always happens to me!
Has any of you ever experienced this? it's really frustrating cause I cleaned them everyday and took good care of them. plus I love to see girls with small cartillage piercings
p.s I'm sorry if its not in the right category, I wasnt shure about that

Actually, cleaning them everyday irritate the piercing, especially if you clean them with alcohol based solution or disinfectant. Let them live their lives haha, you just need to clean them once or twice a week when it's a new one but then you just need to make sure it's well dried when you go out of the shower :) anyway, for the moment if I were you, I would pull off my jewelry, clean it with water+sea salt, clean the hole, then put it back, and normally in one or two week it will get normal :) if not, you will probably need to see a doctor (it can be an infection) you can also try to use sterile wipes, it removes all the bacteria and it calm the redness and the pain (chamomile is nice, the picture is the one I use :) ) and finally, the gun literally breaks the cartilage and isn't sterile, and that's why you should not get pierced that way..

Ty so much Laura! now I only have one hole in each ear because I'm to scared of piercing them again. also I don't want to spend that much money if after some weeks the body rejects it. still I'm sure I'm going to try it again and follow your tips!

If you want to get them re pierced, wait until the hole is nicely closed and it don't have to be red anymore :) a good piercing made with a needle in the cartilage is around 30€, and be sure that the jewelry is made in steel and not in nickel, in iron, in argent or other cheap materials (it can cause rejects) :)

What did you clean them with?
My advice, which has previously been stated, is to clean it with a mild salt water solution to help with healing. Wash with a mild soap and make sure you rinse off all of the suds. Try your best not to sleep on your piercing because that will irritate it. If it's in your right ear, sleep on your left side or if you can, sleep flat. If they get really irritated, you can and should put a little bit of neosporin on the piercing.

No no no. You need to clean new piercings everyday for the full healing time. With sea salt water, and that's it. No alcohol. No soap. If you had it pierced with a gun, the likelihood is your cartilage shattered. That doesn't heal right without surgery, so it'll almost always hurt. And no neosporin or any petroleum based products. But honestly it's just up to you whether or not to live with the pain. You've shattered your cartilage, and unfortunately the likelihood of it going back to normal is slim. My sister has her industrial done, after her cartilage shattered and it still hurts when touched 6 years later. It's unfortunate but it happens.

Yeah I used to clean it with a product called ducray diaseptyl everyday, and after 2 or 3 months I started using warm salt water solutions.
my cartillage doesn't hurt anymore cause they're all closed, but if you grab it you can feel. its texture is different.. my ear is kinda folded, I don't know if it makes sense to you, but if its pierced you can barely see the earring, so maybe that also helps not to heal properly :\
