This might be a long one, sorry ;)

I recently decided that I want to start having a skincare routine (as I'm going to be 30 soon!). But I am confused as when I should use which product and how often!

I have a weird skin, because it is overal normal but oily on the nose and dry around the mouth! And I have very dehydrated cheeks (I was misguided when I was young and used products for oily skin way to long and it dehydrated my cheeks, they now have red patches).

So now I have these products that I really like... but not really sure how to create a routine with them! Could you please help me?

There is the On step cleanser (on the left), should I use it every night? Or should I use it in the morning before my makeup routine?
There is the exfoliating cream (on the right), I know this one is once a week.
Then there is the little pot which is a night cream. I use it as a mask after I exfoliate (I put a thick layer and leave it for 20 min and then remove the excess). But should I be using it every night to?

I realise that, when it comes to makeup, I pretty much know where I'm going, but for skincare... I have a LOT to learn!!

I would use that cleanser in the morning and evening. I've used a sample of that night cream before and from what I remember you can put a thin layer on your skin before bed. If you find it to rich or heavy for every night usage you should try another night cream. I like olay for their night creams, I use the hydrating one (I forget the full name but it's from the essentials line and it's in a pot) I also like clarins and loccitaine. I'm just over my mid twenties and really getting into skincare the past two years or so! it can be quite daunting what to use as there is so much on the market. it's all about trial and error! do you use a serum and eye cream?

Talei, you say I should use it even in the morning if it's a "night" cream?
In fact, what is the difference between nigh and day creams?!

Unfortunately, I've never heard of this brand. However, I know there is a five step process to a good skincare routine: exfoliate, cleanse, tone, moisturize, and protect (SPF during the day / sleeping mask or cream at night). It's very good that you are starting simple. Also I think that your skin type is probably combination. I have a post on my blog about this. I'm in my 30s and very big on skincare but still mastering makeup.

I don't have an eye cream, I use a sample serum from Lancome but usually under my makeup routine, should I use it at night to?

There is so many product, it's hard to know was is "necessary" and what is just a plus!

I would say day and night cream, eye cream, serum since you have dry patches (I used genifique by Lancome and it removed any dry patches I had), cleanser, exfoliant (I prefer chemical or oils). I use a micellar water and tonic in one to remove my makeup so I don't need an extra step. Definitely use the serum day and night. Night creams are usually very moisturizing and can make the skin look oily, that's why it's because to keep it for the night.

That's the serum I have a sample of Nathalie! how do you like it? is it worth buying a full-size?

ok so if I resume, in the morning:
1- Cleaser
2- Serum
3- Moisturizer

by night:
1-cleanser (or exfoliation once a week)
2- serum
3-night cream
is that it? I'm not in the eye cream already, I'll start with my skin I guess!

That sounds like a good solid routine ^^ I also used lancome genefique serum which was nice but I prefer lancome visionnaire (the consistency is nicer and it is meant for more combo to oily skin. I've been using samples and just recently ran out so I'm debating whether or not to buy the full size as it's expensive!

I have the full size Visionnaire Rebecca, but I thought it was more or a primer/base than a serum? because it says "Advanced skin corrector " on it... but I might be wrong!!

As far as I'm aware it is a serum. On the lancome website it says to apply day and night which suggests its skincare to me. The "advanced skin corrector" just means it's going to help address skin issues such as visible pores, uneven skintone or whatever it may be over time.

Oh that makes sens! Now I don't know which one to use haha! Since I have the full size version of this, I'll try the Visionnaire I guess!

And I have another question... might be weird but, what exactly is the purpose of using the cleaser again in the morning? I mean... is speeping that "dirty"??

I like to use it to cleanse my skin of oil and to prep my skin well for toner and moisturiser. I feel like my makeup goes on much better if I have prepped well with my skincare. I don't think your skin would be "dirty" after sleeping but it's good to start off the day with a fresh clean face :-)

I'll start this regiment tomorrow! I hope my skin react well!

Just make sure your moisturizer during the day has SPF of at least 15. Try eye cream soon. It takes longer to fix problems with the skin around your eye after they have already started. Best to do preventative maintenance. I would also look into a toner. Toners helps to restore the natural PH balance to your skin after cleansing.

I realized that I have this and I have never used it! the metal beads create a chill effect that is quite nice,on the skin! I'll had this to my routine!!
and for toner, should I search for somethin specific or they are all the same?

Toners really depend on your skin. I have oily skin so I go for something that clears excess oil but doesn't dry out my skin. I have one from Lush called Eau Roma Water that I love. But my daughter has dry skin. She has two favorites; one from Simple which is in most drugstores and one by Mario Badescu which I purchased at Ulta. For the life of me, I can't remember the name of them...I'm sorry. Your eye cream looks good, just check for an expiration date. Altogether it looks like you have a great routine going; cleanser, toner, eye cream/gel, serum, and moisturizer. Remember, the perfect skincare regimen takes time. It can be a lot of trial and error. But clear skin is possible.

I struggled with cystic acne for most of my life. I finally have it under control where I get one or two really big ones about once a month.

That's great Tamara! I'm pretty lucky as I have a really good skin. With this routine, I want two things:
1- Maintain the good health of my skin in long term
2- Try to clear the redness on my cheeks

For my eye elixir I checked and I'm OK as far as expiration date! And for toner I will have to look into it!

So this morning I did
1- Cleanser (Vichy)
2- Serum (Visionnaire by Lancome)
3- Eye cream (Elixir by Yves Rocher)
4- Moisturizer (Aquasource by Biotherm)

Honestly, it didn't took long at all to use all four, but I wasn't able to do my makeup in time as my skin takes way longuer to soak ing the moisturizer that way! So I ended up doing a "no foundation" makeup haha!
I'll have to adjust my morning schedule!!

Genevieve, I'm very jealous of your naturally good skin. I'm oily and acne prone. Dark spots stay for ages. I have the most horrible dark circles and until recently, suffered from cystic acne. My skincare on most days is 8 steps. Two days out of the week I use a mask so it can be up to 10 steps. There's a name for it and everything: The 10-step Korean Skincare Routine. I'm doing a post about the steps I added to make it ten steps on my blog. But it works. I spend far less time in makeup. Here's me with a fresh face.

Wow 10 steps!? I guess I'm pretty lucky to get away with 4!
