I'd also say this depends on if the product has been opened or not. I most definitely wouldn't keep an eyeliner that's opened for a year, bacteria can grow in them.

@tiffany you are maybe right but who don't use the same eyeliner for over a year? or like loofahs and nail files more than 3 months.seriously it is just theoretical and like shaye said the life time is mostly on the product somewhere.
