I work as a beauty advisor. I was wondering what the next step to becoming a mua. I need a little push on how I would go about that.

Practicing on the clients that come to your counter. If you have a client book reaching out to those clients and kindly asking them if they could come and play "model" for you. To entice them extend a small bag of deluxe samples. Explain to them what you're trying to achieve..."I would like to advance my skill level so I can become a working MUA outside of the counter." I had an advisor do exactly as I'm suggesting to you and I felt so honored that she asked me that I couldn't say no. Plus, doing so also helps your counter sales as well because of course you are exposing the customer to products that they probably never even tried themselves which means $$$ in your pocket at the same time. Be sure to get clearance from your counter manager in regards to the sample bags as I know they can be quite stingy about stuff like that. And also mention that its a great selling tool as well. That's one way to go about it. Once you get some self-training under your belt the next thing is of course building a kit and publicly mentioning to friends and family that you are looking for work as a MUA and just run with it. It will involve a lot of work on your part to put yourself out there so just be mindful of that.
