As some of you already know...I'm a big SPF freak, addict, fanatic. From head-to-toe I make sure some level of protection is on my skin. So when I saw this on Sephora's website I jumped on it.

This stuff claims to be offer not only SPF protection but it also sets your makeup and gives it a matte finish. I usually apply a mineral based (powder form) SPF over my makeup but its such a pain to have to blot repeatedly before each re-application and sometimes it can be a huge inconvenience when in a hurry. This is just so simple...just spritz away and you're good to go.

There is a light fragrance which is the rosemary that it contains...no you aren't walking around smelling like an Italian meal as the scent quickly dissipates. The mattifying of the skin takes place immediately. The first run with it I started out with somewhat dewy skin (which I love) to full on matte. My blush/bronzer and highlight took on a very flat appearance taking away any of sort of dimension to my face.

The setting effect...today...Friday...in Florida the temp in my area hit a high of about 78. It was sunny and I was out in the thick of it. Did it keep my makeup intact? Kinda sorta. I noticed some break thru oil just in my t-zone but I welcomed it because then my face didn't look so life-less and blah.

SPF capabilities...I re-applied a total of 4 times thru the day and did not experience any tanning of my face. Something I didn't notice with the first spritz is that it leaves a slight white cast to my face which goes away after about 10 minutes. Its nothing alarmingly noticeable that would make one cringe in fright of themselves but it was just a tad ashy looking for those ten minutes.

I have not felt or experience any type of irritation over the course of the two days of testing this out. Would I consider this a worthy buy? Still on the fence about it so I really can't say yay or nay just yet. My only complaint is that the first ingredient on the inactive list is alcohol denat which is used to assist the core ingredients to be absorbed by the skin (the alcohol just evaporates) but alcohol denat is not a fatty alcohol...its more of a drying the skin out alcohol...which for us aging beauties especially is a healthy skin cell killer. So while I support the use of SPF I also like reaching for something that extends some anti-aging properties.

So if this product gets a spot in my skincare/makeup routine I will have to say that it will not be a daily use item just because of the alcohol.

I plan on trying this on bare skin (no makeup) and seeing what the outcome is of that in coming days.

Thank you for the review! I've been really curious about this product and there are so few reviews!

You're welcome Kailey. Its actually been out for awhile prior to Sephora carrying it but you're right...there aren't a lot of reviews on it online and the one's I've seen weren't very detailed (it seemed as if they were writing words directly from the product description instead of giving a first person account).

Great review as usual Shelley 😉 have you found any spray sunblock you like?

@Maggie...I found a ton that I love for the body but as far as the face...not yet. Those touted for face use I found a bit too harsh and after a few days of wear my skin would be irritated.
@Tina...I think it is. I think it will be better suited, for me at least, on makeup free skin.

Thanks for your review Shelley. I do remember you mentioning this product a couple days back. I was standing in line to pay for a lippie at Sephora yesterday and noticed they had the spray in one of those tempting boxes in a traveling size. I was so close to getting it just because I was curious but glad I didnt. I definitely need all my healthy skin cells and want more anti aging properties in my products too.

Well, applying it on makeup free skin...much better outcome. I just applied a daytime moisturizer that doesn't contain SPF and sprayed SuperGoop over it...my skin looks slightly matte but not flat like it did when applied over makeup. This will be perfect for those no makeup days and visits to the beach.

I just bought this product today...WITHOUT reading reviews, so I will have to report back. I was at Sephora, buying something else and the small was just 12 bucks so I took a chance (plus Sephora has a good return it policy).
My 51 year old face is very sensitive and I don't wear foundation (don't let it scare you;) Everything feels heavy, especially sunscreen, but we need sunscreen. AFTER purchase, I began reading reviews and most were really great. Not sure I can link an article here but this one concerns me about long-term use and all the comments were GREAT reviews. http://www.paulaschoice.com/beautypedia-skin-care-reviews/by-brand/supergoop/_/SPF-30-Plus-City-Sunscreen-Serum
