Keloids have to be surgically removed.

Keloids are things that normally happen with cartilage earrings and most of the time don't need to be surgically removed, I've actually never heard of one getting that bad, so don't worry lol. All you really have to do is clean it with a sea salt& warm water solution like you normally would, after you dry it and all use a q tip and put some yea tree oil on it. Also try not to move the ring or stud, it'll just irritate it and make the healing process longer. I'd say it takes about at least 1-2 months to go away, but probably longer than that. Good luck! :) also do this at least once a day but twice if you can.

Well if they continue to grow and get large enough they can only be removed with surgery. I work for a plastic surgeon and we have 3-4 keloid patients a day. Mostly on ears and noses.

Are you sure it's a keloid and not a granumola? Keloids have to be surgically removed but granumolas have a lot of home remedies that help get rid of them, I had a granumola on my nose piercing until I started treating it.

What people think are keloids usually aren't. The skin colored bumps are hypertrophic scarring.

Yeah, Renay and Olivia are both right.

They can actually be a variety of colors from red to brown to purple, some are even flesh toned.

Or purple yes. Usually they're skin colored at first then as they get bigger usually turn red, but you're right Bailee! Thank you for correcting me.

That is true as they get bigger they do tend to go red or purple and sometimes you can even see all the blood vessels, depending on the location lol. They're nasty, that's for sure.
