I had an interesting debate with my husband last night. His argument...that some folks have a natural contour along the side of their face and he tried pointing it out to me. I was very skpetical and have heard the same thing from my daughter.

So today I took a good long look at my face after applying Dior Star foundation and a light application of Hourglass Ambient Lighting powder in dim light. Those two were absolutely right. I do indeed have a natural contour line!!

So ladies and gents take a long look at the side of your faces...some might discover the same.

I see it very good Shelley. I have one also which is why I don't always contour and when I do I use one shade darker than my skin. My nose is a different story. lol.

Post a pic head on so we can see if it's visible that way also.

I also have a natural contour haha :) When I contour with makeup, I just intensify what's already there
Your skin is absolutely GLOWING by the way! 😍😍😍

I need to practice contouring my nose. It's so round and pudgy.

I've always noticed this as well! My natural contour is very prominent near my ears, about 1/4 ways down the cheekbone.

Also, my natural nose contour is extremely prominent! I always get asked on here if I contour, and I do not haha.

When I think natural contour I think Angelina Jolie. God that woman is gorgeous. And yep, I can see yours!

Yeh only flat faces need contouring, the face is 3D after all.

@Luke...not necessarily. I have a family member who is Korean and I just looked at her picture she has a natural contour and the woman wears zero makeup (I texted her and asked if she was wearing any in the pic I have of her). Her face is flat.

I agree I never thought it was true until girls pointed it out to me in my Esthetics class. they also commented I had a natural highlight. they all complained how they have dark under eye circles and not only do I not have dark circles it's actually lighter under my eyes and below. my contour is quite prominent only on my cheekbones and I notice an almost grayer shade as well from the right angle.

Yup, That's why I always say if you have it you don't need to always contour you build with the sister products like blush :)

And do you notice how the color reflex a shadow just like contouring/sculpt powder.

Shelley W.

@Alma...yes!! And that's exactly what my daughter does when she does my makeup. Just works with the blush and I'm set. She said I could enhance it with a lil contour powder but to be sure to not go overboard. I went out shopping earlier and I was staring at everyone's faces to see if they had a natural contour. lol

I don't think I have a natural contour line. At least I don't see one. What do you think Shelley? Should I contour with makeup?

Feb 1, 2015

Erica K.

Your line looks perfect without makeup? Do you usually contour with products?

Feb 1, 2015

Shelley W.

@Erica...I rarely contour. In both pics I don't even have blush on. Just the foundation and Hourglass Ambient powder in my t-zone. Now that I see it for what it is...for those days when I want to amp up my look I will reach for a light touch of contour powder but for day to day I think I'm going to play off my blessing and enhance with blush and highlighters.

@Ericka...you have this natural beauty about you...if you decide to play with contour I would actually focus on just a blush and a highlight. In one pic I saw this beautiful angle to your face and I think a blush/highlight combo would just look gorgeous on you. I can't speak for everyone else but when I see your pics its those gorgeous eyes I see. Sometimes the popular trends aren't always meant to be used by everyone because it could distract from the other beautiful assets. :)
