Is it bad to do tease your roots often? And how do you comb it out without pulling out a ton of hairs?

Depends on how often you do it. And to get it out, take a section of the tease and start at the base and begin gently combing it out. Slowly work your way up and make sure you're grabbing the base of your hair while you're brushing down so that it doesn't come out of the root.
( I went through a "scene" phase where I teases my hair everyday. Did this for years)

Is everyday too much? Because my hair is so thick, it can be heavy and very flat. Thank you, I will be careful when I comb it out!

Experiment with layers so that if you curl your hair, it will give you the full look you want :)

Idk how thick ur hair is but I hate teasing my hair so Instead of back combing I part my hair in the section that u would want the volume and I pull my hair straight up and hair spray it from the root to the mid shaft and let it dry before putting it down.

there's a powder you can buy that you put on your roots and just shake it into your hair like a mad woman and poof you have volume in your hair. its called Got2Be powder styling something. It comes in a purple container. its like 8 dollars at CVS(:
it feels kinda weird at first, the consistency but not unbearable. kinda like hair spray in powder form? hope I was helpful[:

It's totally okay to do every day, but I usually wash my hair and comb it out while my conditioner is in.

I am with Melina H and I do the same thing.

IMO, it's not ok to tease your hair - ever. You're brushing the cuticle of your hair in the opposite direction from how it normally lays which

1. Induces frizz
2. Damages the cuticle and causes breakage

Even if you manage to brush it out without pulling it at the root, you're still creating weak points in the hair that will simply break off on the midshaft and then you'll have a helluva time trying to keep the frizzies and flyaways down. There are plenty of ways to get poofs and volume without resorting to teasing.
