Is it white heads or is it painful red bumps under the surface of the skin? The type of acne will determine what will work best - white heads are easiest to deal with n heal quickly (1-2 weeks) but the red bumps like from cystic acne usually take a lot longer (4-6 weeks) but basically just make sure you keep up your skincare regimen with a cleanser, toner and moisturizer and then you can spot treat the pimples with either a benzoyl peroxide cream (preferable no more than 2-5% BP) or a tea tree oil based treatment or a salicyclic acid spot treatment (although these are more effective for white heads than cystic acne) so the spot treatment is the only thing that really changes depending on the acne type - otherwise to speed up the process n draw out impurities you can use a sulfur mask but make sure to moisturize really well afterward since they can be drying.
