Hello! I currently live in New Mexico but I plan to move to the Nashville area soon and I wanted to go to beauty school, with more of an emphasis on Makeup because that's what I truly love.. But I know that going to school means hair, skin, nails etc.which I am excited for as well. I have looked into Paul Mitchell and Aveda and I wanted to know which was better for what I'm looking for? Or if there was another institute in that area worth looking into?

You can look up the specific options for the city your moving to. I had an orientation at Milan and they said I'd have to learn it all with no emphasis on makeup which is what I wanted to, so I didn't choose it, but if you look them up and call with questions they'll be more than happy to answer. Also, I know someone who went to Paul Mitchell.. and this is only my PERSONAL experience, but she would come to class with her makeup done herself and it looked less than professional. Could have just been her, but she said she liked the school.

There's a lot of beauty schools in that area. I don't know any that just emphasis makeup.

I would Google ones in that area close to where you'll be living & go visit any of them you're interested in. I highly suggest visiting more than one and bring a notepad with a list of questions you have for them and write the answers down so it doesn't get confusing. You may be able to find a makeup school in the area if that's all you're interested in. I went to school for esthetics and we did learn makeup plus I had 2 pro makeup artists in my class so whenever we had free time I got with them to learn more so I was definitely lucky. I think having an esthetician license is a great plus as a makeup artist but it's not always necessary depending on your states requirements, so definitely look into that as well. Some beauty schools my friends went to for esthetics hardly learned any makeup & their teacher wasn't knowledgeable at all on makeup so that's where asking a lot of questions while visiting will come in handy. Sorry I can't help you with specific schools but definitely research & take all of that into consideration and you should find the right place for you!

Would you maybe suggest I go into esthetics rather than cosmetology? Since I want to focus on more makeup/skin related things? That's why I mostly ask because I don't really want to spend tons of money and then just mostly learn about hair. I wouldn't mind learning about that but I don't want to JUST learn about that..
