I am annoyed because it feels like no matter what foundation I use it feels heavy and my face feels dirty, whether I use primer or not (and I get mad headaches when I wear make up). I can't stand wearing it but I can't stand not having make up on, any tips would be great.

Try bb cream or cc cream
Those have a lighter consistency
And if you really want to stick with foundation try the bare minerals bare skin if you haven't yet it's a serum known to be really natural on the skin and not heavy what so ever :)

I understand what you mean - I took ages to find a foundation that worked for me, but it was worth it. Anyway, exfoliating and prepping your skin well is a key step to how well your base blends into the skin. For thicker foundations, you can also mix in a drop of facial oil to thin out the consistency and smooth out the texture. My all-time favourite foundation is Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua; it feels and looks like nothing on the skin.

Exfoliating! Also try using lighter consistency of foundations & also I use fix + with my makeup not looking cakey or heavy. If you don't have oily skin I suggest looking for dewy finish foundations.

Look for oil free, a tinted moisturiser and have a good cleansing regime

Try a face and body foundation, it's what's used most at runway shows and on models, because the finish is simply amazing! You'll need to conceal, but that's the way it's meant to work. It gives a stunning, dewy finish with out piles of coverage that lets your skin really take center stage. I do not have good skin- lets just get that right out there, lol! Not, "I'm just saying that"- no, I had pizza face as a teen and still struggle with adult acne. On my worst days, I will reach for a heavy foundation, that feels, well- HEAVY. But the finish is yuck! Make Up For Ever face and body is my fav, though MAC is also very popular. MUFE may sound expensive, but you get 1.8 (I think?) vs the normal 1 ounce of product! If you really like it, save big by saving up for the BIG bottle, the per ounce savings is great!! Simply spot conceal where you need it using a tiny brush for the true, model skin, Victoria's Secret skin glow! You really will not feel you have it on- I promise!! It's way lighter than even a bb or cc cream.😁 Here's the difference on me between regular and f&b, (bad screen shots sorry), but the one one the left is dewy F&B, with a normal full coverage on the right. Both great foundations, totally different, but one you KNOW you're wearing!🤓 If you need help perfecting spot concealing there are many YouTube tutorials, point your brush with a tiny bit of product and dab with a warm finger. Hope this helps and you give it a try! Go to Sephora and ask for an application you can wear around for a bit to see how it feels- warning MUFE does have a scent (the French, what can you expect??!) but it WILL go right away- phew!😜

I second the MUFE Face & Body, it's water based and feels like nothing, my moisturizer is more heavy! I prefer it over my BB and CC creams any days, plus it's lasted me through rain without budging or dripping :)

Aside from the great advice already given / try using less product - most of the time you don't need more than a pea sized amount for your whole face - and I agree oil free formulas feel less heavy to me personally.

Kitty you are so right! 😁Now that I think about it, my moisturizer is heavier feeling, lol! And what is really crazy to me, is that it actually stays on my nasty 'old oily, dehydrated skin? I think especially us oily skinned gals feel like we need glue based foundations to keep it together, lol!😜 But I guess since water and oil don't mix, a water base won't budge- huzzah!! 🎉

Try a very light foundation or bb cream so that way you feel like you aren't wearing anything. I really enjoy L'Oreal True Match and Marcelle Tinted Moisturizer.

Totally understand you and the headache thing too - happens to me as well. All the tips mentioned by the other ladies are definitely worth a try so give them a go and see if anything works for you. My two cents would be to use a setting spray after you apply your foundation as this will hell to smooth down the heaviness and give you a refreshed feel. It's what works for me when I want to reduce the 'thickness' of my foundation. I also transport a little bit of my setting spray into a small spray bottle so I can spritz up when I'm craving a refresher. It works wonders for me!
