So I got a perm and it's now a disaster. No matter what I use in it it doesn't stay curly. It's just a poofy, frizzy wavy mess and it looks terrible. I'm seriously contemplating chopping off my hair to get rid of this because there is really nothing you can do to fix it but part of me doesn't wanna cut it off. Does anyone have any suggestions? Please! It looks terrible and the salon I went to is really no help!

I know how you feel. I just deal with mine. I suggest when you want to do something with your hair go to another salon and or research about the salon you are thinking of going to.

I did and somehow I still ended up with this mess. It makes me sad because I spent weeks researching and they were highly recommended.

Well I mean hairstylist can't do things perfectly.

I know that and I understand that everything can't be perfect but it was also a horrible experience for me and now I'm missing hair and have a bad perm.

Okay if you are missing a part of your hair you can either cut your hair to a a cool style or you can go to the salon and talk to them. I would rather cut my hair and rock it but this is your choice.

Do you have a picture of it? I would personally go to a different salon and see what they can do, but I feel like you might just end up having to cut it...

I'm going to go back to the salon and see what they say about fixing it. If they don't want to fix it then I'll probably end up cutting it off.

As a professional, I will tell you that a a perm is PERMinant. There won't be anything a salon can do for you. Perms can be very damaging which is why you are experiencing hair loss and/or damage. The most they would offer you is some sort of conditioning treatment. I would invest in some good product, a hair oil, I would recommend mythic oil by loreal professional (not Paris). It is a very light oil, won't feel heavy, will save some of your hair from breaking off and it smells very good. I would also suggest getting a smoothing serum for curly hair, so that your curls look like curls instead of frizz. I would suggest one by loreal professional but the name of it escapes me. But it works amazing on its own to air dry or if you want to blow dry your hair straight. Hope I helped :)

Are you using any styling products in it after shampooing? Are you using conditioner? Is so, what are they. Also are you blow-drying it, if so are you using a diffuser attachment?

To answer all of your questions I went back to the salon and asked them to fix what was messed up (the perm was left on too long and that's why k was missing hair, something that should have never happened) the owner decided to cut my hair and ended up butchering my hair off because she decided to use thinning shears to cut the length and ultimately thinned my hair off. It is now so many different lengths and the only way to save anything is to completely chop my hair off into an incredibly short pixie, almost a buzz cut. At one point the salon owner wanted to re perm my hair and I said no because I wanted at least some hair. I did get my money back but now I have no hair and I still have to get someone to fix it. I am devastated. It took me two years to grow that hair out from a really bad dye job and now I basically have to start over. And yes to answer all of your questions I was using the correct products designed for curly hair and nothing was working. If you leave a perm on too long it cause the hair to be frizzy instead of curly. No I don't blow dry my hair either.

That is one side of my hair right now after the hair cut the owner gave me. Before I went in my hair was to the middle of my neck.

Sorry to hear that! All you can do now really is wait for it to grow some!

Don't chop it off Justine I did the same let the perm run its course try some moose and just bun it up until perm fades out! Don't try to relax it either that word be double chemical damage , try some Aragon oil rub gently in scalp! Believe me if you chop it off you'll have to wait longer to grow back. Don't feel so bad!
