Hair Dye Question For Anyone That Works In A Salon!!

So my hair is a red/brown mixed up color. I want it black the ends gray I know a salon would dye my hair black anyways and then add the gray but I don't know how much that's going to cost, my hair is pretty long a Lil past my butt. well my question is can I dye my hair black my self and just go to the salon and have them only add the gray color?

I honestly don't know but I would think they would because I dyed my hair all black and had them do underneath purple but that was a long time ago but they did it so I don't see why not.

First, in order to achieve grey hair, it needs to be bleached as light as possible. black dye, especially black box dye, is damaging and stains the hair. its incredibly hard to remove, and you will have to cut your hair from the damage. I would just let the salon do it or you risk really messing up your hair. most stylists I know won't even bleach your hair from black to white in one sitting because its so damaging. if that's the look you're aiming for, its going to take more than one session.

I would highly recommend not dyeing your hair before you go in. box color is hard to lift as with any dark color. I would have the salon do the whole look.
