In my opinion gel eyeliner is a lot easier to use, it's creamy as a pose to being liquid, liquid requires a lot of practice and can get into your eyes, if it isn't straight it looks very wrong, but with the gel it can be easily rectified

Gel goes on creamier and darker, and lasts longer than liquid liner. Liquid Liner is more for a smooth thin neat finish, and doesn't always last as long as gel.
