Beautifully textured maroon

Stila eyeshadow has one of the softest eye shadow textures of any brand on the market. This both helps and hurts the performance of the product. They feel like silk when swatched on the hand or brushed onto the eyelid, you almost think they feel like liquid! However, when you want a pigment rich effect on the eyes, it's harder for the brush to pick up pigment because the product doesn't catch on. Also, Stila shadows tend to have more fallout under the eyes because of their texture and need to be handled with more care (they break easily if dropped). Don't think I'm splashing the Hate-erade on Stila eyeshadows, some of my most favorite eye shadows are part of Stila's massive collection. Their color selection is unique, the texture is buttery, they have the prettiest finishes on the eyes, and their deeper colors are pigmented. They sell individual pans at $18 (to be placed in their specialized metallic palettes, sold separately). If you want to put them in magnetized empty pots, those are sold separately and cost an $2. You get a fully potted single shadow for $20. The eye shadow pan itself holds .09 oz of product (compared to MAC's .05 oz). Stila's $20 .09 oz shadow seems like a better deal than MAC's $15 .05 oz of product. However, it depends on how much product you like using.

Barefoot Contessa is one of stilas' gems! It's a medium-dark plummy bronze maroon shade. It looks beautiful with taupe, beige, and for a crazy and odd contrast....gold! (See in pic). I love pairing it with Stila Diamond Lil or Stila Starlight. The texture is soft but still has great pigment on the eyes. I do notice a little fallout as I'm applying but it's not too much trouble to clean.
