Beauty Product Reviews

A fun gift!

I was recently given this as a gift, and I couldn't have been more thrilled! Tarte is a line that I hadn't explored, so I figured this would be the perfect palette to try their shadows, blushes, and their mascara (which I've always heard is fabulous).

First off, I love the way that they grouped the shadows into complimentary shades, making it easier to put looks together without having to pick through a typical palette. Also, the mascara and primer lived up to their hype. I felt like my lashes were both fuller and longer looking after applying one coat of each. The 2 blushes were very pretty and very pigmented, and the bronzer is a great shade for warming up the skin. Also, even though I hate mentioning the packaging in reviews, this packaging is adorable!

Now for the down side. As I said, I've had no previous experience with Tarte, so I didn't know quite what to expect from any of these products. As far as the shadows go, I wish they were a bit softer. (I've heard mixed opinions as to whether or not these are their original formulations for the shadows they normally sell.) They feel a bit chalky to me, and some of them didn't apply color as deeply as I'd hoped. As far as their blushes, both are shimmery, which is a total miss. While I do like the shades, I wish they would have made one of them matte to at least give the option for those of us who don't choose shimmery blush all the time. Even though I DO like the packaging for this, it seems like it would be a real hassle to attempt to travel with. (By travel with it, I mean going out of town, not popping it into your purse, obviously. ;) ) The products are glued to the plastic trays that you can take out of the drawers, and it may be possible to pry them out to put into a Z Palette or something, but I'm not even going to try it.

Even though my dislikes list looks a bit longer than my raves, I do enjoy this palette and think it would make a lovely gift for someone who might be intimidated by a typical palette since the colors are already preorganized.

My new go-to!

Finally managed to get my hands on one and it has quickly become my new daily use palette. All of the shades are so soft, blendable and pigmented. I now see what all of the fuss was about! Love it!

I have for YEARS been searching for the perfect under eye concealer. I have unfortunately inherited my fathers dark circles, and for a long time now have been under the impression that it was something I was just going to have to deal with. I finally broke down and grabbed this product in Light Bisque, not expecting much from it and it has quickly become a part of my daily beauty routine for canceling out the blueness under my eyes. Totally worth the money in my opinion!

Nice :)

I really enjoy this product. It leaves a smooth finish to my extremely dry, sometimes flaky, skin. I knocked off a star though because sometimes it burns a bit when I apply it, but that's me and ANY product that contains sunscreen (my skin is hyper sensitive!).

Flake city

I'd never tried a Revlon mascara before, so when I saw this I had high hopes. First of all, I found the settings function of the wand to be a bit gimmicky, as I didn't notice much of a difference in my lashes from one setting to another. However I tended to keep mine in the "Length and Definition" setting because the Drama setting made my lashes clump a bit.

Second, I've never in my life had a problem with mascara flaking. I guess I've just been lucky until now, because about 3 hours into my day a friend commented on "all the dirt on my cheeks." So embarrassing. It was as if this stuff just fell off my lashes. I thought perhaps it was just because we'd been out in the humidity. So I tried it again on a day I knew would be spent mostly indoors. Same result. I don't know if I just got a faulty product or something, but this stuff just does not stay put.

Will not be repurchasing.

Awesome color pay off

I have this liner in Santorini and I am in love with it. It's very soft but has amazing color pay off. It has become one of my go-to liners for creating fun, bright looks. I had to knock off a star though because if it's not set with a shadow, it will smudge. However if you set it, it will stay put all day! Love it!

My new go-to mascara!

After having seen many YT gurus gush about how awesome Lash Blast is, I had to get this. I'm REALLY glad I did. My lashes are already a decent length, so I can't comment on how this product is as far as lengthening your lashes, but it will definitely add volume and drama where it's needed!

Horrible

This product is not meant for dry skinned individuals. It just does not sit on the skin properly, even with moisturizer and a facial primer underneath. It goes on beautifully, but after ten minutes of wear, it's a hot flakey, cakey mess.

So disappointed :(

I was so excited to try this when I first purchased it. I'd tried a similar product by a high end brand and LOVED it, but simply couldn't afford it at the time, so when I saw this I was totally stoked. First impression: It smelled. And not in a good way. It smells like cheap watermelon bubblegum. A facial cleanser should smell clean, not syrupy. I've pushed past the smell, and washed my face with it (Bubblicious anyone?). The application is a bit annoying. The "heat" is activated by water, so if you have any water still on your hands when it goes from the tube to your hand, the warming sensation will be wasted on your hands because it only lasts maybe 3 seconds. The only good things I have to say about this product is that it is very thick, so a little bit really goes a long way, and that it has some very fine granules in it so it can be used as a facial scrub.

Bottom line: I get the feeling even Biore wasn't sure what they wanted out of this. Is it a cream cleanser or a scrub or some gimmicky warming gel? Either way, I didn't notice any difference in my complexion after having used the whole tube, so I definitely won't be repurchasing.

Cute!

As someone who tends to ding my polish job on at least one nail every time I do an at home mani, these seemed like a fantastic idea, which is why I'd been wanting to try a pack of these bad boys. I finally broke down and picked up one of the Halloween packs in "Hot Wired." I followed the instructions precisely and was not disappointed with the results. It's been a week since I've applied them, and they're still going strong.

A recommendation: If you're like me and prefer short nails, try cutting the strips in half (after peeling off the top clear sheet but before peeling off the bottom sticky strip) and doubling the use you get out of these.
