Ahoy Mateys! You've all heard it's coming, The Pirates of the Caribbean collection. This May you'll be able to get your hands on Skull & Glossbones, Mermaid's Tears, Planks a Lot, Sparrow Me the Drama, Steady as She Rose, and Stranger Tides. Available May 1, 2011.
I absolutely love POTC and love these!!! My favourite colour is 'skull and gloss bones', I bought four mini's and a large 'Mermaid Tears' and think they are all so sweet that I am going to purchase full size of all of them. gorgeous pastel finish, totally go with the POTC theme esp. that of the mermaids and the green swamps throughout the movie. The mini sizes are perfect for my suitcase as I go on holiday next weekend, buy them - you won't be sad you did!!
I made my way to Ulta and decided to purchase the mini set which includes four of the six creamy pastel polishes in the collection. Missing from the set are Steady as She Rose, a pale pink, and Mermaid's Tears, a sea foam green. Many people have said that this collection has nothing to do with pirates. I understand that most people wouldn't think of these creamy pastel muddy colors when thinking of pirates, however, I do think these colors coordinate with the colors and tones used in the Pirates of the Caribbean films. Overall I like these colors and may purchase a full size bottle of Skull & Glossbones, Stranger Tides, and may pick up Mermaid's Tears. I'll be skipping on the others, not because I don't like them, but because I have other polishes that may not be exact dupes, but are close enough. Pictures of swatches can be found on my blog: http://jesseniaisabel.blogspot.com/2011/05/opi-pirates-of-caribbean-on-stranger.html
I have Planks A lot and Mermaids Tears. I got Planks A Lot at Ulta my boyfriend picked it out and I get alot of compliments when I wear it. I bought Mermaids Tears at TJ Maxx it's a nice color goes well with my skin tone, I get alot of compliments on it also. They're both very lovely colors!
Im a sucker for anything pirates related so when this came out I had to have them all. They are all great matte colors, I like that they are pretty much good for any time of the year too. The formula also delivers as OPI is known for they go on smooth only need two coats or less and dry in a relatively timely manner.
This is a collection that compliments any outfit and is perfect for any season. It has so many colors that go with everything. My personal favorite is Planks A Lot, that lilac is to die for!! Any who OPI is sort of pricey but I got this in a mini size collection and worth it. Got all the colors and like I said works well for everything.
I brought the minis! Love them all, such unique colours and such a great film! My favourite OPI collection so far. The colours are so glossy and classy. And of course last ages! I apply three thin coats for a great colour. My favourite colour is Sparrow Me The Drama which is in the picture. It's simply gorgeous.
I bought the mini collection to try them out to see if I'd like them & plus the packaging is too cute, & also me being a Johnny Depp fan, haha! So far I have tried Skulls & Glossbones, which I LOVE! & I am currently wearing Planks A Lot, which again, I absolutely love! I haven't tried the other 3 colors yet but they are kind of shear, which means at least 3 coats to show up the color really good, other than that, I love them! & it was my first OPI nail polish! & I really liked how they apply.
I dont have any green nail polish because alot of greens are too much for me but when I saw stranger tides I had to grab it! its such a pretty soft neutral green that goes with practically everything I wear. long lasting and smooth! love love this color :D
I understand that pastels were a big thing this season, but I was really disappointed that OPI chose pastels for this Pirates themed collection. The only "Pirate" thing about them was their names. The make up and clothing in this film (as well as just the over all feel) was really dark, smoky and dirty ... not a bright, cheery color in sight. This would have been a great opportunity for smoky dark colors and strange glitter based polishes, not pastels which have NOTHING to do with the film, and the colors picked ... not that great for pastels either.
