Meh
You defiantly have to moisturize your lips and exfoliate them before using this product. The color didn't stay on my lips very well but I did like the color that it gave off.
Nautral Stain
Definitely DOES not last 16 hrs but I love the color of Endless Spice and Champagne second. I do have to reapply but I don't mind it because i love the slight tint of color that it adds to my lips. I always use CARMAX with any lip products I put on because it avoids the cracked and dry lip look. I find that when I don't do that the application doesn't look great. I'll continue to repurchase because it's a nice quick product to use.
Lame
Well, I was excited about the violet (Forever Freesia) lipstain when I bought it but it just hasn't delivered. Applied patchy and the hard felt point was irritating. It didn't last an hour and I didn't even eat or drink. Hardly "smooch proof".
Not so great.
Picked one up just to try before buying a more expensive lip stain. Not a fan of this. I don't like the felt tip. Felt like I was drawing on my lips with a magic marker. Definitely stained but made my lips insanely dry even though I used a lip balm under.
nah
great when applied. didnt stick with me. formula needs to be perfected. smells very strong . feels like a magic marker on my lips. drying and makes my lips peel, the pointed tip was annoying. cant wear with a gloss. tossed it after a few tries
The not-so-staining lip stain :(
I haven't heard much about the N.Y.C. Smooch Proof 16 hour Lip Stains, so I wanted to pick one up and see how the staying power is. This is a felt tip lip stain, it applies like a colored marker and dries to a semi-tacky finish, I experienced some drying, but no hydration at all - used without a balm underneath or on top.
Unfortunately, this stain did not last 16 hours as it is named, it didn't even stay an hour - on its own. When I did a lengthier process than just applying it, it lasted about 4 hours, but once it fades it's completely gone, there is no staining.
Here's the process I used to get it to stay longer:
- apply a lip balm prior
- apply the lip stain and let dry
- reapply the lip stain and let dry
- apply a lip balm again or a gloss
Timed photos are without balms and glosses, I had a cup of coffee and a piece of toast (this was all before lunch)
If this product actually stained the lips so there was color even after it fades away, I would give this a better review. Sadly, the color doesn't last and the product doesn't really stain my lips. $4.99 isn't expensive, so I might go back a get a few different shades to try instead of this bright and pigmented Forever Fuchsia.
prolongs bold lipcolors
This stain is a great help in prolonging the wear and smooth look of matte/bold colored (red, orange etc) cream lipsticks. Not so much with gloss, the color tends to slide. Thus technique withstands 45 minute to 1 hour MakeUp Education lecture.

Short-lived and painful.
Applying this lip stain is an actual pain. I really dislike how pointed and sharp the felt application tip is, it is VERY uncomfortable. Further, the tip being so pointed left streaks when I went in to make the color of my lips uniform. Proclaiming longevity extending to 16 hours is silly, I think mine lasted one and a half tops (in a night of rigorous studying...no kissing or eating, just a few sips of coffee).
Dries up too fast
I was so excited to try this product out mainly because it was significantly less expensive than Covergirl or Revlon and the color choices are great. At first i was very pleased with this product because it only took two coats of this lip stain for the color to show up and it lasted a pretty fair amount of time throughout the day. After a week or so i noticed it started to dry up and the color would fade in an hour and it would take about five coats for the color to show up. I guess I've learned you get what you pay for >.<
I change my mind.
I used to love these, but as I started using more lipstains, i realized this kind of sucks! >.< I prefer Revlon Just bitten or Covergirl Outlast. :) The tips on these ones arent very great, and they leak into the cap quite a bit. I do like the pigmentation, but they aren't the best if you're just looking for a little bit of a stain. I like more buildable color, so this one is just not my favorite as much anymore.
